Nomadic Nolans

Post by Greynomad »

Well, we’re on our way home (slowly), hoping we can cross the border into Victoria when we eventually get there.
Because bloody Daniel Andrews has declared ALL of NSW a red zone, we’ll have to self-isolate for 14 days DESPITE travelling well west of anywhere remotely suspected of being a contact spot!
Currently camped in Wondai Qld. Let’s hope there are no problems entering NSW…
While staying in Maryborough we did a day-trip to Fraser Island. Well worth the money.
We also took a look at Hervey Bay. Dunno what people see in the place. Our impression was “poor man’s Surfers Paradise”.
Been there, done that, don’t need to revisit.
While there we had lunch at “EAT with Dan & Steph & Emmy”. Dan & Steph won My Kitchen Rules one year and runners-up in the final series. (SWMBO was a fan of the series.) Emmy is the daughter they could afford to have after winning.
The food was below average cafe standard. SWMBO was not impressed with her Korean Bhudda Bowl… raw vegetables with a smattering of pork & so little seasoning it was undetectable. Had to share the garlic aoli from my sweet potato fries which accompanied my very ordinary burger. Poached eggs with everything… more a breakfast menu than lunch.
Verdict: DON’T BOTHER! They’re trading on their reputation as MKR winners.
As a sample of Hervey Bay’s attractions, what is wrong with this pic of the beach there?

Answer: The outfall pipe draining all the rubbish & dogsh!t from the streets empties ONTO the beach!

Some years ago, the shire did build pollution traps around Tuggerah Lakes to try & prevent rubbish ending up in the lakes, many of them became swampy marshes, guess they were a little successful. :?

Ray I sure hope you let the cafe owners know about your disappointment with your meals, they need to know.If I were you I would stock up with food fuel etc and go bush rather than come south, it is freezing, go back and keep Tanks and Major company xx

Sounds a good idea Ray, it's been freezing here too, really cold westerly winds whipping waves up across the lake & the sun having difficulty peeping thru some days, stay north.

"tanks" here---
The temp is only 14.3c at 8:00 this morning. Ray & Joy are welcome here for an extended stay.
I have a few jobs waiting for visitors, and Mr Major enjoys his "Joy walks".Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.

Ray, you won't have any trouble getting back into NSW. If you haven't been in Vic in last 14 days, no permit required.
But they won't let you back in Qld once you cross the border. Regional NSW now an orange zone apparently.
Stay in Qld for a while and enjoy the sunshine. FiL down in Mulwala tells me it is freezing cold and windy down there at the mo'.
Cheers

You could travel around the edge of NSW and come to SA, it's even colder down here
I wouldn't be in any rush to leave the warm country if I was you Ray, do the same as all the other Victorian's and spend the cooler mths up nth so your last memories of motorhoming are pleasant warm ones 8-)

Not exactly warm here at Lake Broadwater, just south of Dalby. Cold breeze on the lake & patchy overcast.
Wondai wasn’t much better: 7deg at 0700 when we left this morning!
Gotta get home by end of July, SWMBO has 150 roses which need pruning.
Also (Covid permitting) we have a g’daughter’s birthday celebration mid-August in Melbourne.
Glad we won’t have border problems entering NSW. We knew that once we crossed that border we would not be able to go north again.
The major problem will be getting into Victoria to go home. Need a ‘Red Zone’ permit, even though we have not been within cooee of the Red Zone as defined by NSW! Just Bloody Daniel Andrews’ version: the whole bleeding state!

ps. T1, this won’t be our “last memories of motorhoming”… we’re planning to downsize. Just our last memories of Girt. 🙁🤔😀

Ray

Bernie.
Bernie,
We don’t swim in the Murray, and there are very few sandy ‘beaches’ on the river.
As far as I know, none of them have sewer outfall pipes emptying onto the sand.
I think all towns along the Murray now pump only treated water into the river. EPA is watching… … …
