Dot I have no idea what or where the M symbol came from but you'll need to edit the address that shortcut goes to.
Can you right click on the M & select Properties & then SHORTCUT then change the target to that address I gave you?

Down the bottom where sites are eg f book icon,chrome icon, mozilla thunderbird etc . I did the right click on the M but it came up Tasks.
start in private browsing.
M gmail
Unpin from taskbar
X close task bar
Now the M has gone from down the bottom of screen.
Think I am getting lost more than usual

Try deleting the M app and reinstalling it before messing about with the app settings.

Hi Dot,
Depending on your windows version, go to the search/find and type in Gmail. It should bring up the application to start. On my PC, Windows 10, the little window is at the bottom left corner.

Well thanks everyone for your suggestions of how to help me.. Some guy by the name of supersparkie is now named super Dave. The poor guy talked me through this maze and bingo my M came back and all working now. Thank you David, you are a gem.
