Dead Batteries.

Last year I purchased brand new batteries for my Bus @ Murray Bridge.

On return home last October, I was sure I turned the isolator and sadly hadn't rune the bus since.

Went to start her up the other day, nothing flat as a tack.

Put one my little 8 amp charger, nothing.

I've got a 40amp charger coming with 12/24 capability.

My question is if I run the 24v for a short time??? on a 12v battery what may be the likely outcome.

My theory is to give it a jolt/ decalcify and see l can resurrect.

I feel for you!!
I reckon any chance you may have is to plug a 'dumb' 12v charger in & watch your multi meter.
You don't say how big the batteries are in Ahr?
Probably a 20A one will do it but if a big bank maybe a 40A one.

You need a charger with a desulphation cycle and a reconditioning cycle, the Oz Charge units come to mind but they aren't cheap https://www.ozcharge.com.au/collections ... wer-supply

I've used the Ozcharge unit a lot and it works great every time, no idea about the second unit. The Projecta, we have used the 50 amp intelligent range (IC5000) for yrs, but they have risen in price to the point we no longer use them, purely on the cost basis.

As for 24v into a 12v battery, you will boil the electrolyte and buckle the plates long before you desulphate the battery.
