They should find a pretty good Coaster for 50k, I reckon.

Re: Toyota Coaster - what to look out for?
If they choice a 4 cyl diesel and the motor isn't great, I highly recommend the V6 Commodore engine swap. Smooth, torque like you wouldn't believe, hill climbing ability you just don't get with a diesel and great fuel economy. Add to that, every second gumtree has motor parts under it and if they added the 4 sp auto as well, an easy to drive beast that was almost unstoppable. Add a locking rear diff or even a limited slip diff and it would be near as good as a 4 x 4 motorhome, just a lot more room and comfort.
I did quite a few Hilux V6 Commodore conversions back in my mechanical workshop life and a Mitsubishi Pajero to replace the 2.8 ltr diesel, that thing was incredible, probably the best upgrade I've ever driven.

Well that just shows how much I know. 231,000 in 12 years seems a lot.

I would definitely get one with inside toilet, shower not so important that looks like a Hugo import from Japan, expensive with no inside shower/toilet I reckon.

Camping places "fully self contained" now are pushing for full shower and toilet built in.
I've heard they even knock back porta potties.

This one is cheap enough to leave a few $$ for upgrades

The Nissan Civilian is a well built vehicle, not as common as the Toyota Coaster but still very reliable.

Better to get one with bed N/S or single beds, soon get sick of climbing over one another, fun sometimes
