Thought for Today

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

The most junior member of the design team was sacked due to the failure and a revised design without the input of this obviously incompetent engineer that didn't see the glaring issues that caused the failure .....

T1, are you sure that you have never worked in the public service? That's exactly how it works. Or if the young kid comes up with a good idea........

If the most junior member of team comes up with a brilliant/logical solution to a problem, he/she is immediately reassigned or dismissed and the manager takes the solution to the board/senior management as their own, taking all credit and usually a generous bonus or pay rise.

Or, as a casual, get regularly called back for a 3 mth stint, even though I was the highest paid fitter in the place. Because I couldn't submit ideas to management to get the brownie points and bonuses, I shared my ideas with my leading hand, explaining only part of how the idea worked .... but it did sound like a complete package at the time  After catching up the backlog of work, I was the first one laid off and being the most expensive, the last one put on, but I got extra strong votes at the management meetings because the leading hand had sold "his" idea, but hit a snag when it actually came to implementing the last part of the actual operation .....
It took the management team probably 2 yrs in total to realise they were actually my ideas and they only got sorted when they brought me back ..... so I got more votes when the thing wouldn't work

After getting shafted big time by the workshop foreman and the leading hand with the Friday lunch time no offer of week end over time and my finish up at knock off time (that was clearly coming) I planned my revenge over the next 3 mths waiting to get called up again, actually delaying the start 3 times so they were in real trouble by the time I did start  It fitted in well because I had the left knee op at the same time and couldn't walk properly ....
Christmas was coming and I knew my time was limited, so I planted the idea that one fitter and two indians could do the job rather than tying up all the fitters on one build ..... I didn't mention my interpretation of an "Indian" was a TA,(trade-assistant), not an actual Indian labour import  The final nail in the coffin was the leading hand telling me my pay would be dropped from $29hr to $18hr .... don't even bother to ring, I certainly wouldn't travel 125km a day to work for $18hr ...... Shook everyone's hand and told them the crazy pay offer and I wouldn't be back .....
Over the next 3 mths I had phone calls from just about every fitter that was still there, they had employed 20 Indian labour imports to replace me, each paid $20hr, and the place was pure chaos because unless the whip was being cracked, this new workforce just sat on their a*rse .... they couldn't be given multiple tasks or even a single task to complete without them being watched while they were actually doing it .... I'd already had experience working with this type import labour force on industrial shut downs so I knew what was going to happen 8-)
Scored a new job within 15 mins from home, better pay and open ended overtime, but I really did enjoy the crane assembly job better than just about any other I'd had with the labour hire mob.

Why old guys don't get hired..
Human Resource Manager : "What would you say is your greatest weakness ? "
Old Guy applicant : " My Honesty............"
Human Resource Manager : " well, I don't think Honesty is a weakness....."
Old guy applicant : " I don't give a f--k what you think "

Lets see if the good ol FB will see it like that later on tonight?? Might get a month for honesty
