I guess, the same reason they call it a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test Dave.

I was impressed by the "News Crawler" (as Ray calls them) on 7 the other day, "Rat shortage across country" Do these people even read what they put up as a news item?supersparky wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 6:22 am There are two types of Covid test. A PCR test and a Rapid Antigen Test. Why do they call it a RAT test?
It's a bit like getting money out of an ATM machine.![]()

Why do caravans have a handle on each corner? We have a customer here that says he can wash his caravan in 2 buckets of water, one soapy and the other to rinse .... could this be the reason for the handles? To pick up the van and put it in a bucket of water?

I suspect you missed the point.
Dave pointed out that the last letter in the acronym RAT stands for “Test”, but people are calling it a “Test test” when they say “RAT test”… same with “ATM machine”: the ‘m’ in ATM stands for “Machine”.
“PCR test” is OK because it’s a “reaction test”. Now, if people were saying “PCR reaction” that would be just as nonsensical as the other two.

Masks are the new bra.
- They’re uncomfortable.
- You only wear them in public.
- And when you don’t wear one…
Everyone notices.
