We all know everything in America is bigger and better than everything anywhere else in the world.
We know because the Yanks keep telling us so.

Just leafing through one of those catalogues of everything no modern home can do without. (Like a battery operated corkscrew cleaner.)

One item on offer is the complete series of Bonanza on DVDs. The (fictional) ranch was supposedly the biggest in the US of A: a thousand square miles.

Anna Creek Station in South Australia is 9,140 sq m.
Australia has 53 stations over TWO thousand sq m.

Reminds me of the old joke about the Yank on a bus tour with a bunch of international tourists.
He boasts, “Why, my ranch is so big, I can drive from sunup to sundown and still be on my own land!”
An Indian gentleman replies gently, “Ah, yes. I too once had a car like that.”

On some stations in Oz, that’s the drive to the front gate.

Passed a few on the road track from Innamincka to Birdsville.

SWMBO was taking a school group through Melbourne Zoo quite a few years ago.
A very loud American accent was booming out nearby, “Where are the kangaroos? I wanna see the kangaroos!”
She walked over to him and quietly asked, “Which ones? The Eastern Greys, Western Reds, the Wallaroos or Wallabies?”
His mouth was going like a fish out of water.
Didn’t hear another word from him.

Imagine how the 1st WW would have ended without them.
Same the 2nd WW.
If the English were left in charge we all would ended up in a Singapore nightmare.
Unfortunately since then the rest of the world has just 'used' USA as a backstop.
Look what's happening since USA pulled out of Iraq? No one else gives a ^$*@!
