Yes, there was a screen on the counter, but the girl was sitting ALONGSIDE it, cos she couldn’t hear customers if she sat behind it!

I learnt very early about how easy it is to be infected with nasty things, NZ I was scrub nurse on a tonsillectomy case of an adult, went to the sluice room to empty the suction bottle, it was sealed so tight as I yanked the top came off but splashed the goop all over my face, had my mask still on but the eyes copped it. Unbeknown to the nurses the patient was hep positive, I had to have tests and jabs for 3 months to make sure I hadn't contracted it. Staff were not notified of patients medical issues due to being a private hosp. The next one was that time in Mt Barker with the aids pos man that spat at me. and the time my friend and I were going home from night shift, came across a motorbike wrapped around a tree, we both got to the man and we started cpr, once again he was an aids pos but at the time you don't think of anything apart from helping people. Sue did the mouth to mouth and I did the chest compression's, we were notified a few hrs later re the guys aids status, both of us were so scared we had to have tests for the next 6 mths, luck was on our side but now with my autoimmune status and the chance of covid every care is taken and I would expect the same from others.

It's a worry when that happens isn't it.
I used to breeze through life with the very rare sniffle when all around me were hacking their lungs up.
Now, these days, after a lobectomy, if I hear a cough or sniffle I'm immediately aware of them, and instantly go into a self-defence attitude, I don't run away, but I'm aware of them and where they are !

's funny how the attitude changes after a major shakeup isn't it.

I understand the concern. However, it's a two way street. Ray was dumping on the girl (in the bank which is now a newsagent) about her attitude. She said that she can't wear a mask; presumably for her medical reasons.

I just find it sort of selfish that everyone looks at their own personal needs; and how others impede on them when the other party has their issues too. It sounded like that wasn't considered in the news-agency.

Who knows... she may be equally as worried but needs to earn a living and the best she can do is work in the news agentcy....... just saying....
Generally speaking, if "we" didn't always try and prioritize ourselves over others, the world might just be a little nicer.

Dot, I'm not discounting the situations you mentioned. They would have been scary

Scary does not cut it, those A holes could of quite easily given me and others a death sentence, when thet guy spat at me honestly it was all I could do was tell him to go F himself and walk out refusing to be his nurse. Never heard a sorry from the motorbike guy or a thank you. The surgeon of the tonsils also got a serve from me and my husb, he knew the dangers that his patient could inflict and we (the staff) should of been told to wear the extra safety gear ie face shield. If we come across any accidents these days I honestly have 2nd thoughts about stopping, Yes I now look at my own personal needs because others have not done that, no consideration for others esp when they knew the death sentences they could of inflicted.

The most disturbing thing about covid is how bloody selfish Australians have become. I would blame most of it on "social media" Never seen anything that could be more anti social on occasion.

It's about caring for oneself and others, not about being selfish or anti social. Please correct me if I have misunderstood your post.
