Another project done!

A lot of us have homes we spend some time in. Discussions can be about any topic that may be of interest that you can think of... renovations, purchases, expenses, etc, etc

Ray,

can the be cleaned by dropping in the fire? Wouldn't it soften and remove a lot of the paint?

Shirley, I wouldn't want to pay more than $20 or so for the usual 3 foot style, and maybe a bit more for a 4 foot one.
Ray might value them a bit differently, he has quite a collection of them.
Cheers

Shirley,
I’ve paid anywhere from $10 to $35 for the standard 3-sole & 2-sole-with-heel-post types.
The 4-sole one I found in Temora was marked $60, but I wasn’t prepared to pay over $40~$45.
Unfortunately SWMBO vetoed the purchase.
Which is why I was very pleased that David dropped by!
Pity we missed him… next time.

Joy’s fracture has healed, but she is still having physio treatment for soft tissue damage.

Jon,
Fire might make the iron brittle. Wouldn’t risk it.
The angle grinder & wire wheel combo makes short work of any paint and other junk I encounter. Also lightly etches the surface so the paint sticks.
I prefer matte black. Satin if store is out of matte. Gloss black doesn’t look good to me.
Regards & God bless,
Ray

"The Last (?) Garden Bed"
... at least, that's what SWMBO keeps telling me.

Probably our her most ambitious project to date. And with her being semi-incapacitated, guess which bunny has been down on his knees sweating away while the Head Gardener supervises? :?

There's more planting to come:
Wisterias in the tubs alongside the arbor;
succulents in the rock garden tub;
assorted ground-covers scattered about &
one rose with the ashes of our Lab & Beagle under it.

Well, that's an amazing re-purpose for a paddle wheel, do you have to throw the concrete gnomes into the wheel for it beat their pants off, or are they just naturally attracted to such a thrill? :shock:
I guess the real question is, why do you want the pants off the gnomes? :?

Certainly a big project and a great result ... are you in the good books now? I doubt I'd take on a project like that and finish it in 18 days .... even 18 mths might be a stretch, well done Ray and Joy .....

The 18 days has been spread over six months... dated from the day we got out the marker spray can & tape measure. :P

The reason for the large rock garden is that a previous owner had a granny flat on that spot, and must have permanently sterilised the soil. We've spend about $1,000 on trying to grow trees, ground-covers, even succulents, without success. The rocks are growing well! :lol:
