Alpaca Wool

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Alpaca Wool

Post by homeless »

Does any one know if al[paca wool is used here in Australia by hobby spinners etc.

We have just shorn 6 alpacas and have been told to take the wool (a full wool bale) and dump it.

Have asked several people but none know opf anyone who wold like it.

There were 5 white and one black. They would have to cover the cost of shipping etc.

I hate to see stuff like this wasted as I know when I was working in Chile much of the clothing is made from this wool.

Brian,

Try contacting the CWA - Country Womens Association... I'm sure their members would be able to make use of it.

Some time ago someone was going into spinning. I think it was Shirley (& Bruce).
Maybe contact these people?

Brian there's a small shop in our town selling everything Alpaca related so I'll drop in and find out what they know.
Have the colours been mixed? (all in together?)

The fleeces were mixed but it would be fairly easy to separate most of it.

The original intention was to dump it somewhere so there was no desire to separate and waste two wool bales.

Will look around at some of the links.

The owner does not want any money just wants it off his property as he is a fine wool grower and does not want any alpaca in his shed or yard.
