You can fly up with the wife and have a leisurely drive back home getting the feel for the motorhome .... then you will find out what needs to be done to keep the wife happy, either upgrades or you travelling solo ;)

Give the Pinnaroo way a miss, humpty dumpty long boring road, better through Renmark and turn at Halfway House Rd towards Sedan. The turn off is roughly 24km past the Blanchetown BP on the highway. The road does a dog leg the other side of Sedan, but the signs are obvious, head towards Mannum but at the top of the hill, turn right then left at the cross roads rather than left towards Mannum, take the Monarto turn off before you reach Murray Bridge and that will take you through to the freeway, or you can go straight ahead and through Murray Bridge if you need a coffee and snack break before heading down the freeway home.
Might be a bit longer, but you will still be sane and avoid going to sleep and bush bashing .... (won't mention names eh) .... by the time you reach the highway.

Vik, there has been a fair bit of rain out near Hay recently.
I'd be checking every couple of hours on how it's going. The Newell was OK when we came down a fortnight ago. Dunno about further inland though.
Cheers

Just choose the fastest route on the gps, not the shortest, and follow it.

So thats the A 20 route, whats the B55 all about , yellow road on this map means a bit better ...??? Loxton , Sandalwood , Karoonda etc ...??? karoonda Hwy ...???

I imagine it will be a prick of a ride in a empty van, noisy as a Deep Purple concert ... :o

Vik, if I was doing the trip you are planning, I would go from Toowoomba to Pittsworth, Milmerran and Goondiwindi, across to Boggabilla, Moree, Coonabarabran, Dubbo, to West Wyalong. Then head west to Hay, and across the Hay Plains to SA. I dunno any of the hwy numbers, just follow the signs as you go through the towns.
If that van is empty, get a bit of cheap carpet and glue it in and up the walls. That will shut it up a lot. If it hasn't got a UHF then get a little 5 watt handheld and listen to the trucks. Them fellas know what's going on. It's not a bad drive, just boring as bat sh*t on the flat straight bits.
Good luck.
Cheers
