Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Deb,
For those labels resistant to the ‘soak in a bucket’ method, I break out the shaved steel pot scrubber — the one that has lots of intertwined tight coils of stainless steel — ‘cos it’s coarser than normal steel wool pads.
Then I use Goo-Off or similar with a paper towel to clean off the remaining glue & label fragments. (Followed with a dry polish using a fresh paper towel.)
I have, in desperate circumstances, resorted to WD40 on a Sunday when I ran out of Goo-Off & the town’s hardware store is closed. It works, but leaves streaks which require a visit to the dishwasher.
My current Goo-Off equivalent, from Aldi.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Thank goodness for the weekend, another long day and me buggered again. Got to the dental hosp in good time, as usual the dentist was so gentle and apologetic if she thought she may of hurt me,
So pedantic with her work, she found a small bit of decay below the gum line so that was fixed also with no discomfort, see in 6 mths or before if I need to. = $0, compared to the local dentist before Easter the same procedure cost $300+. Back up the freeway for our Dyke and spike hair cuts, our hairdresser only works Fridays as she is just a new mum and everyone keeps asking to see her baby pics which means she is always late so we just go for a walk of a bit of shopping. Finally had our hair cuts headed home to where I promptly had a W, a banana smoothy and a chat to HTFFBO then a nana nap. Looking forward to making it to midnight when the start of the Tour de France starts,I have to be observant for the first 3 or so days until I can pick my new hero, so many new ones that are going to be really good. Heard Qld is going to be in for some nasty rain soon, so hope they are ready for it. Show us what your kiln has delivered please Deborah. Might have a nice warm shower, hit the sack and wait for the boys on bikes. Goodnight everyone x
Keep warm and safe travels. Goodnight Peter & Sandra x

Good to see your busy day was worthwhile Dot xxxx
When the current lot comes out of the kiln, I will try to get a pic, it's just not the right light here for photos at the moment.
Thanks for all of your thoughts about label removal. It's interesting, all the different ways everyone uses to get the labels removed.
Shirley, anytime mate.
The weather has been atrocious today. We watched the boats jumping around in the sleet for quite a while. I did venture down to my shed in a dry spell and was happy with the flat plate. It's getting turned into a bowl tonight. As the rain started to get a bit too heavy, I headed for the warm house and will leave the arty stuff for another day.
I have just finished reading a book by an Aussie author, Liz Byrski, titled Family Secrets. It has given me a few things to think about, especially how we don't always give our family all the story instead of letting them using their own brains to make up their own minds. Easy reading, but thought provoking. A previous book of her, that we both enjoyed was called Last Chance Cafe. Her writing is aimed at old farts or about grandparent issues, so it's a lot different to the usual farm story with romance at the end, that seems to be how a lot of Aussie authors are heading.
You can see that we have been so house bound that the books are being read much faster than usual.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Another label removal suggestion is to fill inside of bottle with fairly warm water up past labels, leave for five minutes or so then they just peel off leaving very little glue behind.
Works well on plastic containers used for peanut butter or chocolate almond

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
How are the boys on bikes going Dot? Do they still have bums worth watching? Stay warm mate xxxx
Thanks for the thought Eddie. It doesn't work on yellow tail labels, they have a very different kind of glue. It's just as nasty as their wine
Today we had three different weather warnings in roughly three hours. Firstly, expect heavy rain, next, expect heavy winds and finally expect severe flooding. Mother nature must get her ideas from the bureau. She has sent all of the above . It's freezing and horrible and more is expected for the coming weeks. bbbbrrrr
As demanded by the resident slave driver, here are the pics of my successes from this week.
The black one is the one that has taken almost the whole week to get right. I am happy with it now, so well worth the wait. The red n black one is spectacular and only took two nights in the kiln. I have another starting out in the kiln tonight. I am expecting it to take at least three firings minimum. Time will tell.
I need that warm bed, so nighty night xxx

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Um the B.O.B has a lot of newish boys so I have to wait a few days to decide, I would of picked Ineos Grenadiers but Richie Port and Chris Froome have left so I am leaning towards Jumbo , couple of prangs just now in the last 25ks but nothing too bad (yet) spoke too soon nasty prang on the bridge 18ks to go wow. Deborah with those platters are there raised bits or illusions? , do a platter esp for the happy people the rainbow people, bet you would sell it fast they could use it for a "raffle"
Going to ask the surgeon if I can take my ph into theater and film the proceedings of my thumb. It has been freezing here as well,oh how I am wishing for summer. My Bombers won today so that was nice wow a monster crash 2ks to go heaps down but they won't be any time penality as the big fall was within the 3ks to the finish.. Bed time now , goodnight everyone x
Goodnight Tanks & Mr Major xx
