Sounds a bit like Half-job. Never finished anything properly. Worked with a few of them over the years.
Cheers

Then there’s “Horse”… for what should be the obvious reason.
And one my father told me of:
“Nugget” — not because he was short (this bloke was 6’2”), but because when there was grubby work to be done he was hard to find.

We shortened that to "afa" - lucky if you got them to do half the job, that way there was less to redosupersparky wrote: ↑Sat Aug 13, 2022 2:10 pm Sounds a bit like Half-job. Never finished anything properly. Worked with a few of them over the years.

at the crane mob we had one they called "The Professor" he not only knew all about it, but quoted the physics laws, rules and regulations relating to it ...... someone finally did a Google search on his "facts" and found half of it was horse shitte and the other half a direct quote from Wiki ..... I renamed him "GG" - horse shitte just flowed from him naturally .... I think it stuck until after I left working there

Did you read the first post Dottie? You don't think I quoted them from memory or something

Where I did my apprentiship we had a fork lift and a brimco (name of local crane company) both because they would nick anything not bolted down and also an Aspro. Slow working dope

Re: Nicknames, I reckon there are some great ones out there
A mate who worked on building the Wollongong sewer upgrade told us about two workmates, candles - was very bright, and hipshot ... apparently attempted suicide with the gun under the chin. Bullet did a loop under the skull, came out the base of the skull at the neck and took a piece out of his hip.
The mate didn't know him before he attempted to suicide, so he didn't know how smart he was before, but apart from a speak impediment as a result of putting a bullet through his tongue and the roof of his mouth, he seemed to be "all there" and had a very happy go lucky outlook on life after getting a second chance to live ......
Some of the nicknames can have a very deep back story .....
