Pays to shop around

Post by Izabarack »

Paid a deposit on a new DMax today. Nearly 8 grand between lowest and highest dealership. The winner responded to my go-slow comments by "twisting my arm" to sign up today; he halved the cost of the options to urge me on. I was not playing the virgin bride at the time and was really only taking time out to work out that the price was already 2 k less than the previous cheapest quote. The 8 grand is a little misleading because I did not want a tray, just cab chassis, but there is some promotion on where you get a free tray for the price of the cab chassis. Just how much do these people make when buyers pay RRP?

I'll start cutting the steel for the fiver ball mount tomorrow.

For so many things. Normally buy cream for wife's hands from Chemist Warehouse $5.69. In Armidale yesterday 1st chemist $9.25, 2nd chemist $7.80, 3rd chemist $8.99, 4th Chemist $5.70 all the same product
Had to walk past all so no issue and none far from each other. Don't like getting ripped off on the identical product.

I go to out of town Dr's Chemists, hospitals, dentists and all other "professionals" small towns talk too much, The local Drs don't bulk bill either and the 2 chemists we do have are owned by the same people and have made too many dispensing mistakes for my safety and liking. The only places that will price match here are the booze outlets  this is where I go

If not already, I wonder when we will be able to purchase mail order online with a scanned or email script?

That's what is called competition.

Two are the same, two are out of the ball park and one at the gates.

If they all charged the same it would be called collusion or price fixing.

Who's the lucky sod?!?! We have the same, and a newsagent, but only have ONE supermarket.

However, we have FOUR pubs, Dottie: One rented temporarily as an art gallery, and has a For Sale board out front; one has recently closed the restaurant/cafe and has a limited beer selection in bar (probably on the way to closing the pub in favour of the motel units out the back - have heard publican is not a 'people' person); one closed for Heritage Restoration for a month or so; and one trading as usual.

As compensation, we have a sourdough bakery, and quite a few restaurants & cafes in town, as well as at many of the vineyards in the area.
And we have PARKER'S PIES... world-famous in Victoria's North-East! (They do have delicious pies. We're working our way through their menu! :P )
Regards & God bless,
Ray

My wife sometimes requires a particular medication. To get it in Australia she must first get a prescription from her doctor and then take that to a pharmacy to get the drug on the PBS at a cost of about $6.80.

In September we were in Italy when she needed the medication which she did not have with her. We fronted up to a chemist shop and asked how we could get a supply. No problem, we could buy it over the counter, no need for a prescription and only cost E$1.85.

In Australia we are over regulated and over charged for just about everything.
