Yes, good question Steve!
I've travelled most of those roads over the years and there is about 6 different ways to go with very little difference really.
I've no idea once you get to the Hume Highway but it looks like the only decent road in is from Wangaratta?
The other road up from Melbourne looks like a goat track to me?
