Gentle Annie Thread

Post by BruceS »

Hi Folks,
Can you please post in this thread any/all info & piccies from Gentle Annie Easter outing.
ps. I noticed the parks website has crashed so too many people looking up details about it?
How about initial description of the site as you've found it so far?
Will it be boggy if it rains?
Rain is coming tomorrow... apparently!

We are in the unpowered section across the road from the powered section with pedestrian access to the ablutions etc by walking under the bridge. Quite a way from the actual river ( about 50 meters). There is a tap for filtered river water suitable for shower tanks but not drinking. There is a rain water tank for drinking water in the powered area. Fires only in dedicated fire pits. Bloody flies are a pest though! More info once we explore further.

Don't expect any problems in the event of rain, unless it's a monsoon!

We are in the powered section & the initial response on arrival was quite favourable.

Sites back right up to the river so all looked good... until the owner/manager showed us our site - right nest to a permanents lot where we would be unable to get our awning out. Said NO! So he then said we could use the next site further away from the permanent so that was better. Kay & Bruce arrived shortly after & they didn't want our first site either so they opted for the other side of us, next to Joe & Joy. Boss fella here said he would put some vans/campers across our sites but he must have got our vibes coz he hasn't & the campers are packed in like bloody sardines.

Just before we left Police Paddocks a check was made with Lesley & Erich who had already arrived there about the condition of the water. Up to that time we were under the impression that town water would be available. Nope. As Lesley states only river water for showers etc & limited rain water. And we forgot to fill up the spare tank on the way down. DOH! So bought 2 x 10L containers on the way.

Amenities block has 3 showers & 3 toilets in the males area... not sure what the basic requirements re numbers per people are but doubt it's sufficient.

Overall the location is pleasant enough.

The company makes it better.

Any sight of the elusive T1 and Marg as they seem to ahve dropped off the edge of the world.

T1 had problems with a fan belt so not sure if he was able to find the fault and continue or returned home to effect a fix.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

We found Gentle Annie to be a great spot, the good company made it even better. We were on the rivers edge, close to the bridge, solid under foot and quite level. The showers had good water flow and the water was plenty hot, the place was clean. The blood gass cannon's to scare the birds off further up the road were a bit of a noise nusance but appart from that, a great week end.
I now know what the fan belt problem is, but no idea how I'm going to fix it on the road. Might just have to battle on with it till we meet up with the rest of the mob, then try to get another alternator pulley machined up.
