Whats with this weather ????

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

The river water is on the rise now, wind blowing upstream is really causing issues. The Mannum board walk in now under water, the pontoon at the end of next doors jetty is now higher than the jetty and it won't be long before even my high-rise jetty will all vanish under the waves

Rained so heavy on Sat that the gutters over flowed quite a few times, the back patio turned into a moving water way .... but when I eventually had a chance to check the tanks .... still 3/4 full, all the crap out of the gutters and down pipes filled the strainers on top of the tanks  Then it rained real hard again, that filled the tanks.
Put the submersible pump into one of the rain water tanks and pumped water up to the top tank where the river water normally gets pumped to so the mud can settle out, the over flow goes o the middle tank and then on to the front gutter house tank that is linked to the main house rain water tank ...... wandered out the back to see how that was going .... yet another flood starting to flow through the back patio .... sure enough, the water strainer for that tank was again full of rubbish, stopped the pump and emptied the strainer yet again, more rain over night but the main tanks aren't over flowing yet .... so still room for a bit more rain 8-)

Will the road be open to get through to Windsor at the Colo River? What about the road through Wilberforce and even the Windsor Bridge? I know Richmond was under water and with this last lot of rain, probably will be again .....

All good Terry. Not sure exactly where the GPS took us but no flooded roads. Some nail-biting hairpin turns on the way up but we made it.
Cheers

Was that between Richmond and Lithgow? It would have been the Bell line of road if that was the case, a lovely drive through some little villages and lots of bush .... hard to believe that was the road of choice for over weight trucks

Just had another look at the map and Bells Line of Road is correct. Then turned off at Richmond and up Springwood Road, through Winmalee and onto the highway at Springwood. Blowing an absolute gale here now. Hope it eases soon.

Used to drive the Bells Line of Road in my Mini when it was a dirt road… great fun when you’re 18.
But even when it’s a bitumen surface, driving an 8 tonne motorhome plus car trailer on it was definitely not fun!

BTW, we had 40mm overnight. Just like the past three days. Getting a tad soggy around here.

So soggy the Hume Freeway is closed due to flooding… as well as the Murray Valley Highway between Rutherglen and Albury, and sections of Corowa-Rutherglen Rd are impromptu swimming pools.

Terry the Bell line road was known as the back road ( the one thru Katoomba the front road)
We used the back road a lot of a night when the checking station at Bell was closed ( the one at Mt Boyce was open 24 hrs )
That road wasn't much fun with sometimes 30 ton plus on and some trucks with less than 200 hp.

Ray don't remember it being dirt but i only used it from 1957.

Same here I don't have any memory of dirt.
I remember the Putty 5road still mainly dirt back in the late 50s early 60s.

Well the Putty Road is all bitumen now but still the bends and ups and downs remain. Lots of roadworks which I think kept the traffic light. We had a great couple of nights’ stay at Grey Gum Cafe about 5km as the crow flies from Putty. Boy they know how to make a burger! The steak and bacon burger was legendary. Fortunately we were able to devour it in the MH so we didn’t look like a pair of pigs.

Ray did you see that sinkhole thingo at Rutherglen tonight??
Indigo Shire Council has shared incredible drone footage of a massive sinkhole in Rutherglen, in an effort to highlight the potential dangers of driving through floodwaters.
It comes as flash flooding continues to wreak havoc across the country, with several communities impacted by wild weather.

Link won’t work for me either. 😢🤔
And I missed the report on the sink-hole. Dunno where it is.

… and I must confess to a big OOPS:
It was the Putty Road, not Bells Line of Road on which I used to fling my Mini around. 🫢🤢

It’s also the one which gave me a white-knuckle drive in later life.

My apologies.
