Re: River level at Loxton
New photo of the Loxton tree this morning. Flood peak expected at Loxton in 10-14 days so a bit more water to come yet.

How much further up the tree is that 1956 marker John?

Re: River level at Loxton
Tried that WJ, but its a bit hard to judge on a pic on the phone. The news services are saying the worst flood in 70 years, so they must expect to exceed the 74 mark and maybe the 31 mark too. Then there is a fair bit of a gap up that tree trunk to the 56 mark.

About the same amount again from the 2011 flood marker, the hand rail was visible then

SA Water says there are 214 gigalitres flowing past Boundary Bend ( 1 gigalitre = 444 olympic swimming pools full) but Lock 1 (Blanchetown) has only 121 gigalitres flowing over it at the moment, so there is a lot more flow to reach each town on the way down, Wentworth, Berri, Loxton, Blanchetown, Swan Reach, Walker Flat and Mannum before it gets to Murray Bridge.

Dave you can measure it. It's a long way.How much further up the tree is that 1956 marker John?
... but I reckon the guy was standing in his boat when he hailed it on.

Very good Jon, I will just use my elastic tape measure and a piece of string.
......
Obviously SA hasn't seen the worst of it yet. There is going to be plenty of work with Blazeaid and other volunteer agencies when it's all over.

Correct. In the new year, Feb or even March, we should form a mob and hit on a Blazeaid camp. I've been watching the site, and they are closing for xmas and new year. There is going to be plenty of work with Blazeaid and other volunteer agencies when it's all over.

That sounds like a good plan. And for a real good cause.jon_d wrote: ↑Fri Dec 16, 2022 7:22 pmCorrect. In the new year, Feb or even March, we should form a mob and hit on a Blazeaid camp.
