Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Yes Bob, and then you have to wait at least 6 months to get an appointment and trust that it wont be cancelled at the last minute.
I have had 4 face-to-face appointments cancelled or changed to telephone or telehealth appointments from the respiratory unit at Mackay Hospital since March last year. I now have an appointment for March next year.
Keith.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.
Hey! Stop running Qld Health down!!
It's the same all over Australia, but the difference is we stopped complaining years ago!
We are all to blame. We spend billions on over seas aid including giving away Bushmaster units, but we run our own medical facilities down.
AND, we voted for this!!
Bruce,
At least this time we voted to change the crew on the sinking ship…
Hoping they can plug the leaks.
The last lot appeared to be drilling more holes in the hull!
Regards & God bless,
Ray

Late good morning from me.
We had our street Christmas party yesty arvo. Bit foggy this morn, but a beautiful sunny morning outside. Our health systems are run by our state govt's, not the Feds. It's not just Australia that has major issues with its medical system.
But how do you fix it? Not fair for those that are crook though.
Stay safe and dry everybody. Its bin day here too.
Cheers

We chose to use the public system rather than private medical and just scrape the $$ together to get a cash deal from a specialist when we need it. Both Margaret and I paid the medibank levie surcharge when we were working rather than buying private health insurance, I can't see how an insurance business designed to make a profit was ever going to be a better deal than the public system backed up by cash money when needed. The only times I've *ucked around regarding health care was when NRMA was paying the bills for back, neck and knee repairs after the motor vehicle accident, yet a few of the problems were sorted quickly and properly when we ended up paying cash to the specialists after the sham trial that was supposed to force NRMA to act responsibly ...... enough ranting, back to the original programming

Except when you're not acutely sick.... Having private health insurance means you don't have to wait.
If you're able to tolerate pain and worry, go for it. It's your choice.

That's where the cash money side of it comes into play, there wouldn't be a surgeon or hospital, especially the private hospitals, that don't understand "discount for cash" and have some way they can spirit the $$ away from the tax man .... a 3 mth wait for payment from the insurance mobs, instant spendable money from a cash job, who do you reckon would get the priority treatment? I doubt it would work for long term stays if there were complications .... but you are already in there so the public system would probably take over ...... no such thing as long term in a private hospital that I've seen, as soon as it gets to more than a few days, off to the public system you go, the private insurance isn't keen on paying private hospital rates for very long ......

I think you're misinformed Terry. Boys spent 10 weeks in special care when born, and about 9 weeks for Y.
Each to their own. Some self insure; some pay up front, some rely on the public system.
Some of those who self insure seems to struggle to find the cash when needed.
