Dot the SES rescue would be free but I reckon the insurance company will be paying out for the damages to other boats.
One houseboat had his 16ft fiberglass boat tied to the back of his houseboat & it got crushed.

First day back at the workshop, it might be over before it begins though, not feeling 100% ... or even 50% really. Not sure if it was food poisoning, one of the mozzie diseases or just what got me, but I was trying to do the steps up to our escape route, didn't feel great, then all went blurry, called Margaret to take care of the cement in the wheel barrow, headed inside and ended up in bed asleep for around 10 hrs ... not a good thing when combined with an extreme case of the trots, but no accidents there, but that was what woke me up and had me staggering for the toilet. Worse than that stuff they give you as a flush through before the camera up the butt trick and that was the pattern for the next 5 days.

At least the toilet trips are over, the belly is still tender, haven't had a coffee since before Christmas so maybe it's cold turkey caffeine withdrawal, or that combined with a case of gastric, but I still isn't feeling real good.
We have house call to do that came to see us before Christmas with system problems (not one of ours) so I'll see if I can last long enough to at least figure out what's gone wrong, then back home to bed.

As far as the high water, we have a dry road roughly two houses in each direction, the water is on the gravel on the river side of the road in front of the house, so I expect it will be at the driveway within a day. The duck weed is built up so thick now the birds walk on it and peck at stuff through it without actually breaking the surface, so it looks like they are walking across a grass paddock .... with ripples every so often The white caps were actually breaking over it in the wind yesterday and it is packed up solid-ish back past the floating pontoon, more very hungry ducks required, that lot will be on the road in a day or so

Bruce, is the water flowing fast through the mariner?

Jon it depends a bit on the strength & direction of the wind but there is a current most times. Usually about 2 knots & not able to swim against it if you tried. Some places you can see the water swirling around and creating 'eddies'.
Arriving back to the houseboat I have to head into the current rather than the wind or else I lose steerage. (Is that a word Ray?)
My measuring stick on the walkway is about to go under full time. Top of it is at 3.2m AHD.

Yes Bruce.
Steerage is not only the ability to maintain a vessel’s direction, but also the lowest class of passenger accommodation on a liner.
On the Titanic (as with most ships of the day) steerage passengers had very little by way of creature comforts, and were those most likely to accompany the captain going down with the ship if it foundered.
(Except that the Titanic’s Captain didn’t… only the passengers did.)

A few of you have been into the Mannum Waters Marina & know there is a sliding security gate to keep the riff raff out.
Here is a photo of the entrance. The gate is about 8ft high.

Before the water started rising we ripped the electric motor & electrics out of the gate system Bernie. The gate can still be manually pulled open or shut . We had a few brain dead people suggest we need to chain & lock it closed for security!!!
I feel bad about not ripping the main switchboard out of the shed but I got told to leave it for insurance claim. I did sneak back in & remove the big solar inverter. (stored securely)
