Smelly drain
Not in the bus but in the ensuite at home. Thought G-man had had an accident in his sleep, but it was a nasty smell coming from the drain in the floor, any ideas and what to put down it?

Re: Smelly drain
The stuff in the purple bottle from Bunnings, found in the same place as the generic nappy wash for adding to the toilet to breakdown the number twos into a less smelly liquid.

Re: Smelly drain
If it is a drain that has very little water flowing through it, it could be as simple as pouring a few litres of h2o down it. Save using the heavy chemicals for the really essential stuff.

Deborah it is the drain in the ensuite floor. I have tried white vinegar and salt but O. The stuff Vik suggested is a natural product.

Re: Smelly drain
We had a bad smell in our ensuite and my wife blamed me, but as always I was innocent. Looking down the floor drain my wife could see something. It was a dead cane toad. It had made it way up from the sullage tank, through 2 traps and into one of the floor drains in the ensuite. The payback for blaming me, my wife had to remove the dead toad(my hand would not fit in the pipe). I don't think this type of thing would happen If you have sewage.

Re: Smelly drain
Our shower drain stops draining properly at least once a yr creating a not so good smell. After the first few attempts with different drain cleaners, I put the drain snake (that we bought from Aldi yrs before) down the drain and pulled out a rope made out of Margaret's hair. Seems just collecting the hair that matted up on top of the floor drain wasn't all the hair that came out each wash
Seems nothing (that wouldn't destroy the macerator as well) dissolves hair ......

Re: Smelly drain
Dot, this is the stuff that T1 mentioned above. From the cleaning products aisle of the green shed.
That stuff Vik mentioned is currently not available. Don't try the last stuff that Vik put up, it will rip your your skin off.
Once the enzymes in the purple bottle does its work, it won't smell anymore.
You could try what Deb suggested first. The floor drains at our place dry out when it's windy, so does the loo.
