Penola SA

Post by Greynomad »

Currently just closing our 2nd day in the C&£A RV Park at Penola.
So stinkin’ hot 🥵 Sunday that we considered a return to base & try again in cooler weather.
Fortunately we checked Nigel’s predictions for Penola and continued.
Been good weather yesterday, and bright and sunny this morning, so we headed for the beach at Robe (70-odd km).
Great time, the girls got their first taste of surf (minuscule waves), then the cool change hit with a vengeance.
When we returned to Penola the Camp Host & only other couple there had lowered our awning & lashed it down, moving our washing under cover! Moved our genny & chairs under the van out of the rain, too.
Wouldn’t happen at a commercial CP.
Host said winds had probably been above 75km/h. They had retracted their own awning as well.

Kelly and Megs get their first experience of salt water that moves:

Hi. Very hot up here yesterday and then blew pretty well as the change hit. Cool today with a bit of light misty rain. Garden day now. Must be interesting stepping around the dogs in the van. They can spread themselves out sometimes.
Should be cooler for a few days now for sightseeing.
Cheers

Today is a “being a tourist” day…
More specifically, winery tourists. 😁
At least we can take the girls into cellar doors. 🐕 👍😀

Departed Penola 2 days ago, yesterday stopped at the Stick Shed in Murtoa (not Moulamein 🙄) before overnighting at Rupanyup ($10/n with power and water!).
Today reached Pyramid Hill (free overnight, no facilities).
Tomorrow it’s Going Home Day. 😀
Shakedown trip has revealed some ‘gotta do’ and some ‘wanna do’ things.
I hope the money lasts as long as the list…. 🤞🫢🙄
