12v fridge worries.

I opened the door for about 5 seconds...temp went to 6.1 that was about an hour ago... still sitting on 6.1.
I changed the position of the sender to this bottom when I opened the door.
It's a old weaco.

Is there a vent above the top of the fridge? Even though it is a compressor fridge, the heat still needs to get away above the fridge.

Yes, has vent about two feet above and that is on top of fridge not on side wall, plus the vent at the bottom were I took the underneath pic from.

I had a similar Waeco 220L which gave me similar problems, let us down Christmas Eve so had to race out and buy a bar fridge to get us by. We had the Waeco tested a few times without problems being found but it still kept playing up.

I put it on Gumtree, got $600 for it, bought a 220L 240VHisense one and an inverter to run it, total price $620. Fitted in same space and works like a dream, Fridge maintains 4*, freezer -15*.

Thanks George, that will be the fate of this one...sooon.
Unfortunately all the fridges are a poofteenth to high...and her self said I'm not allowed to remove the microwave. She only uses it a Elliot Heads...each January for two weeks
Need the dollars first before I can go that way...

Bernie when our fridge played up it was the sensor and which position it was at, so G made it's working position permanent, works like a dream now. When he connected the fridge up he only made it Gas and power, didn't want the 12v connected. You leave the microwave alone . We have a convection M wave

Bernie, do you have one of those temperature measuring gun things that you could check around the seal with?
That'll show you if the seal is damaged anywhere.

Thanks Dot...but two different types of fridge.no sensor to move.
I did Dave but it sh!t it's self last year and I haven't replaced it...

Yes Bernie we had a Waeco that looked like yours and had similar problems ....could not solve so threw it out and replaced with a 12v dometic RUC5208x.....its been in a year now and is always good ....3deg in fridge and 20 or so in freezer...slightly smaller than the Waeco but we are very pleased with it .

Bernie, I'm guessing your fridge and freezer just has plastic walls all around the inside cabinet, which wall gets cold in the fridge? I'm guessing the back wall.

If the fridge is a lot hotter at the top than at the bottom, try adding a battery powered fan mounted close to the top and blowing air across the back wall and down towards the bottom of the fridge ... does this help speed up the temp drop in the fridge?
