That would be a problem with the RV remote from the house, but can the ute be parked close to the house? The ute could become the principal battery and inverter location, solar for the house plugged into the ute when at home to provide enough solar to replace what the house uses. What inverter is in the ute?

Terry, are you aware of this? https://fortescue.com/news-and-media/ne ... r-facility
Erich has been following it and it was featured on the local news tonight. I had no clue about it. I don’t know why the Qld Govt is not getting more mileage out of it in an election year.

Re: This renewables madness
When I discussed doing the same at a Mannum Meet-up I said I would have had to make the battery pack portable, because the van was not parked at my house, but in the Village's Van parking area,Noggins wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 10:51 am You old have done the same as many who we fitted systems to their RV, plug the house into the RV and power it that way.
That is the plan with our Motorhome and house, fit all battery and solar control in the RV and plug the house solar in to run parallel with the RV solar when we are home

It was seriously knocked down as an idea, which incidentally, also stopped me from converting from AGM Batteries to Li.
So I stayed with my AGM batteries. 200 Ah in the van and 300 Ah in the ute, solar on both, with inverters and linking cables, so there was plenty of power if I ever needed it, and I never converted to Lithium for an alternative power supply.

Ron, the first Lithium battery I ever laid eyes on was a portable unit. I reckon it's still in use on a houseboat parked in the marina at Mannum.
The biggest issue that I can see is the plug connection that would be used to connect motorhome battery to house system. I don't reckon the old 15amp plug will work, because it legally can't backfeed, so some other type of battery connection will be required.
I'm all for it though. The energy retailers have been ripping off everyone that has residential solar input for years.

Leslie, that really is very interesting. Hopefully it will keep quite a few people in work. I think the Qld govt are in damage control since Anna pulled the pin. They seem to be pretty busy running around putting out 'bushfires' instead of focussing on 'moving forward'.Swisslulu wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:15 pm Terry, are you aware of this? https://fortescue.com/news-and-media/ne ... r-facility

Yes, I agree. It is being seen as Anna leaving the sinking ship, I think. However, much as I thought Steven Miles was a non-event, I have been impressed with how he has improved on camera since taking on the mantle. I think the LNP might not find the election not quite the walkover they expect. Is Ros Bates your local member? I really can’t find her credible. Sorry, political opinion should not be encouraged here.supersparky wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:37 pmLeslie, that really is very interesting. Hopefully it will keep quite a few people in work. Re: This renewables madness
They say it's a green hydrogen plant and won't use fossil fuels, but they don't say where their power comes from, or the water for the process. Don't see any solar panels or wind generators around the buildings, but looks like a river close by and they will probably drain the river to produce hydrogen. Or is it just a power hungry plant producing the equipment to make elsewhere.Swisslulu wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:15 pm Terry, are you aware of this? https://fortescue.com/news-and-media/ne ... r-facility

Thank you Lesley and Eric, no I wasn't aware of the speed they had developed that plant, thumbs up for all concerned.Swisslulu wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 6:15 pm Terry, are you aware of this? https://fortescue.com/news-and-media/ne ... r-facility

Uumm, it's a manufacturing plant to make the membranes for electrolysers NP, not a green hydrogen plant, they don't split the water there, they make the parts to sell to other people to build their own electrolyser.native pepper wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 6:18 am They say it's a green hydrogen plant and won't use fossil fuels, but they don't say where their power comes from, or the water for the process. The one being built in SA https://research.csiro.au/hyresource/so ... -facility/ to thrash out just what is required, what to do and what not to do to speed up mass establishment of this type of facility. They will use water from a desalination plant for hydrogen production as well as added drinkable water for the area, rather than it being piped in as it is now.
Whyalla already has vast renewable electrical generation either functional now or being built, so they have plenty of renewable power to run the whole thing ....
The energy sector is moving ahead very quickly, it can be hard to keep up with what is the latest developments, but it is happening none the less
