The heart of this solar revolution beats in the overproduction of solar panels, primarily in China. This surge has pushed production costs down to just over 100 euros per kW, making solar energy an incredibly attractive option for many.
According to the Financial Times, the global production of solar panels is set to reach 1,100 gigawatts—three times the demand forecasted by the International Energy Agency
How anyone can justify spend iB of taxpayer money on producing solar panels in thsi country beggars belief. Another loony tune by the crazy Bowen.
In Europe they are now so cheap they are building fences out of them, not the perfect angle, but who cares, still produce power and cheaper tahn a steel fence !!!!!!!!!

I agree Dottioe, now all you have to do is separate the renewable energy electricity from the fossil fuel burning energy that is running down the wires, then those with an EV can charging using that and the climate deniers and anti EV crowd can pay the real price for fossil fuel generated electricity .... with zero subsidies from the govt.
You think power prices are high now, take out the cheap renewable energy and take away the fossil fuel govt handouts and you'd get to see just how much fossil fuel powered electricity really cost

Re: This renewables madness
If there really was a flooded market of quality solar panels, why would places like Tindo still exist, how would they have found the money to build a whole new production facility beside the existing one and why is there an order wait time for their panels?
I have no doubt there is a lot of solar panels being built in China, the quality I have my doubts about. Not long ago they dumped a lot of solar panels into land fill because the quality and electrical output was so bad nobody wanted them.
Why don't you make a smart purchase and get a few container loads of these bargain solar panels and make a killing reselling them at Tindo prices?
To get a true reading of how many solar producers make a product worth buying, check out how many of them rate a Tier 1 classification by the Clean Energy Council .... and while you are there, check out how many manufacturers fell off the Teir 1 rating list because their quality dropped so far there were more returns than purchases ... or the company simply disappeared when a claim was made?
Evilbay and the likes are flooded with really cheap panels that have been removed from houses and businesses and replaced with new one because the system was "upgraded" because it didn't perform anything like the sales pitch said it would .... and cashed up clever people took the installers to task over it through the courts .....

Re: This renewables madness
Well we all know, from your teaching, that Tier 1 is not worth dunny paper so that argument simply does not apply.
I get that you are taking the quality angle as there is not much else to back, if you think spending taxpayer dollars to produce solar panels is a good idea.
A simple google will show that the few dodgy panel makers are largely gone, and the oversupply exists, but China will still keep producing them cause that is what they do, they don't care about price or oversupply.
Sure tindo still struggles along, they have also done quite a bit of replacing in the past as I recall ? But another heap of competitors lapping onto the government gravy train to make expensive solar panels is just economic madness, any one can see that.

Re: This renewables madness
I can't see any sense in tax payer assistance to make the same solar panels already on the market, are you sure this isn't connected with the new tech printed solar panels? Various govt have made all sorts of offers to support this technology if anyone got it up to commercial stage and a competitive output per sq mtr or $$ per watt, been lots of talk for a very long time, but nothing has ever actually eventuated.
I saw yet another "breaking news" click bait type article a week or so back, but never bothered to follow it up .... I'll have a look on Google

Found it https://www.newcastle.edu.au/newsroom/f ... nted-solar haven't read it yet, but the fact they are actually out there in the real world actually working is a huge step forward

EDIT: Found this as well from a well known Australian institution .... could this be the sort of thing the Govt is looking at investing in?

If you think solar and wind are such a viable concern can you imagine just how many would keep on demanding we install both options if all the rebates / handouts were removed ?

Just what the percentage of Gov't handouts are for both sides of the argument are I do not know precisely, but as far as I can read, the "New Energy" gets a massive handout from Blackout Bowen and his acolytes in startup and maintenance costs.

Re: This renewables madness
T1,
The Newcastle Uni research is amazing.
Replacing the gold conductors with carbon-based ink sounds like another way to de-carbonise some of our waste as well.
However, in the Guardian article they mention efficiencies of around 11%.
Is that solar-to-electricity or the number of panels that actually work?
Seems to me that either way that efficiency needs to be up around 75% to be financially feasible.
Imagine printing a coating which would make the entire roof of your RV or home into a power plant!!
The mind boggles.

Re: This renewables madness
On gumtree recently there were 20 x 250w solar panels on sale asking $200 for the lot, claiming they are from an upgrade. Tindo are the best value for money and you're not dealing with creeps on the other side of the planet. Don't think we can have enough solar panels on the planet, the more we have on peoples homes the quicker power prices will drop, especially if we get over night batteries and use them as much as we can. Time to get rid of the ridiculous electricity grid and start building small local grids with centralised battery backup.T1 Terry wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 11:14 am
