Hi Terry....Batteries are going brilliantly in both the van and cruiser. We're very happy with them. We worked out what happened to cause the hard start of the LC that last day (we think) and nothing to do with the installation, just coincidence. Yes, well a girl is allowed to change her mind. And I do. Constantly. So we are ambling north east cross country.
Cheers

You can follow is at http://nussbaumerweb.wordpress.com. Camped at Barrington Reserve a bit west of Gloucester on Thunderbolt's Way for tonight after a toe-curling drive between Gresford and Dungog. I reckon my panic was probably equal to Margaret's. Spectacular scenery though. Opening the cupboards in the van was a bit dangerous once we set up camp.

All of the above and add STEEP, Dot. If everyone else was banned from the road it would have been ok, but having other vehicles up our butt was an additional stress we didn't need.

Bretti Reserve is a good camp 34k nth on Thunderbolt Way, if you are going down the Oxley to Port Aspley Falls has a great camp area, septic toilets worth stopping & having a look at the falls even if you don't stay, it's N.P. tap water need to boil to drink.
Ellenborough Res., is also a good camp area, enviro loo, only river water.

Thanks Shirley. We are heading to Port Macquarie and then up the hill to Tamworth. After that, north-west to Winton to arrive by the end of May.

Bretti Reserve is well worth the stop but beware can get awful cold!Shirley wrote:Bretti Reserve is a good camp 34k nth on Thunderbolt Way, if you are going down the Oxley to Port Aspley Falls has a great camp area, septic toilets worth stopping & having a look at the falls even if you don't stay, it's N.P. tap water need to boil to drink.

I wouldn't recommend continuing up Thunderbolts way to Nowendoc, lovely drive with great views, (particularly at the top) I have been informed it is the longest continual pull in Australia (60km), I can quite believe it. I have seen a few Caravan tugs boil going up there. Though If my old bus can get up there anyone can.
