Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Dot, still out there in a gravel pit somewhere? xxxx

Ray, it's just you and me out here tonight mate. Lot of pikers hey.

Today, the sun was almost shining. So we decided to bite the bullet and get the shopping done. We almost left the driveway as a huge cloud burst fell over us. Not deterred, we did our shopping and came out of the shops to almost sunshine again. The shopping was sorted and put away and food worked out for dinner. That was enough expending of energy for one day.

Next came a message to say that the plate I sold to the lady from the local scouts has broken. They suspect it was dropped, but nobody is talking! After looking at her pics, I suggested that it could be repaired . She was here with said plate very quickly. It looks like I will be having a new challenge tomorrow. I think it is repairable, so time will tell. I will try to get some before and after pics.

sleep well you lot xxx

Once again, this me sitting outside with all my mates. It's been drizzling rain here at Mul for an hour or so and they have all snuck inside. I hope it rains like this for a week or so, the cockies around here need it.
Take it easy everyone that is still travelling back home from last weekend.
I hope you have that plate sorted now Deborah.

Gees three nights in a gravel pit, hope you have some power still Dot. Stay warm out there mate xxxx

David, that plate was a lot worse that I expected. The crack ran right through the bendy part where the glass was formed up to make the handle. The only way out of it has to been to put the whole thing back together in the mold and hope that gravity will keep the pieces together long enough for it to melt back neatly together. This is not the right way to do this, but I can't see any other way. If I had just let it fall back to the floor of the kiln to be flat, the break would have distorted so much that it would not have been possible to fuse it neatly. This is a risky mend process and I half expect to be going to the shed tomorrow and having to start all over again and make another plate for the lady...time will tell.

We almost had a sunny day here and I had things to get on with that were all inside jobs. What a waste of sunshine. Now the weatherman is saying that it will be heavy rain for another few days...bummer

Hope you are all in a warm place and out of the rain.
night all xxx

Hello there, have done as much avoiding going home as I can manage, he is getting cross with me detouring here and there for no apparent reasons  Called into Keith again and this time stumbled upon some friends just up here to watch her horse race, she knows I don't like that any more so we didn't speak of it. Also found the Flying Drs shop, nice shop and some good stuff. Parked up in one of our usual spots between Keith and Tintinara (sp) watching the BOB time trials. Brian has enjoyed the trip but likes the warm bed as the nights are cold. Tell you there are some FWits driving on the roads. As we were going around to the L) under a bridge something ripped a chunk of rubber off the back wheel, never saw anything toward but it sure cut a good chunk. The tyre is still doing the job and the tyre dog keeps us up with it. Good luck with the broken vase Deborah and well done Shirley. Had a chat to HTFFBO this arvo, they have had a fair bit of woes lately, their caravan springs were repaired but the repair was a no goer so they took it to another place, got it done and also a full refund from1st repairer, then the car had a prob with ??? I forgot but then 3 days later the gear box chucked it in so they are stuck in Yarrawonga till the car is done but they have a loan car. Hope all the sickies are better. Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Tanks x :D

Glad you remember where you live mate. Dot, I am sending positive vibes for your kiwi mate, what a shit that brother of hers is. xxxx

I have just had a heap of weird things happen with this computer. One minute working and the next minute, nothing. Pic on screen but mouse was stopped still. New batteries etc, but still no response. Turned machine off and on again, but nothing. Did another off and walked away, before turning back on. All seems ok, but different. There are things on the front screen that were not there before, like a bit that will explain whatever the picture that is there on the wait screen. I had the photo things trying to load and it has stuffed me around for a long time tonight. After all the reboot stuff, it took about five minutes to get some pics off the phone. It was then, that I remembered the meta crap is coming into effect at midnight and of course, that was when the timing of all this was happening.

Just for you Dot.

This is the plate when I tried to get it to lie down flat in the kiln
IMG_4827.JPG
Next is how it looked after being propped up and a ton of extra glass added to get the join secured
IMG_4832.JPG
Today, it looked like a reasonable repair. The join is visible from the back, but it now has a story to tell. The shape is a bit weird, due to having so much extra glass added. Tonight it is back in, over some mold shapes to get it looking a bit more presentable. I am sort of much happier about it now. It will always be a repaired plate, but the lady will have a story to share along with her biscuits.

night everyone xxx

I don't understand what happened there with the pics, but hey, you did get to see some.
The plate with the space is meant to be the first one and the plate with all the glass piled up on top is the second one. Guess I am definitely not very computer literate tonight. xxx

Home tomorrow then Dot? Hope Brian settles back in happily xxxx

Thanks Shirley. I still really enjoy the challenges of glasswork. Once it becomes a chore, I will stop.

Today, I looked at the plate and thought "I would not really be happy to receive that plate as a gift". It has distorted and has some weird bits on the edges that need to be sanded out and re-fired. I started on a replacement plate today. It's being fused together as I type. Hopefully tomorrow it will get put in to slump over the mold and the job will be done. I don't think I will offer to re-fuse things any more. This one has just been a disaster.

It has been so cold today, guess it must be getting closer to winter, certainly feels like it.

Happy Mother's Day to all who qualify. For us it's a double celebration, it's our 51st wedding anniversary as well. (Yes, I was a child bride)

night all xxx

A child bride Deborah I was 18yrs old as well, so congrats to you and yours. I got up late today 1130am, stripped the bus out then off to AJ's for a get together with some people we have become friends with, they are heading up the middle to Darwin and when their new van is ready (July) they will come back down to pick it up. . The tiler did a good job on relaying some tiles for us while away. Cat trap reset as there was bird feathers under a free so the cat is coming around again. Watching the BOB (Italian) Next month the Tour De France and hoping my favorite bum Wout Van Art (sp) he got mixed up in a big smash a couple of mths ago. The Jayco boys are doing ok Deborah. The countryside is beautiful Got some more washing to hang out and just one more load to go so Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight NC George x :D How's the bus repairs going?
