Mens Sheds

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

You could join a 'Sheila's Shed' Dot. There's a few of them about. At least up our way there is.
Cheers

I'm not involved in our local men's shed, just give them things they can fix sell or donate to other groups in the area. Gave them a sabot last year and a couple of fire pumps and power tools no longer use, most of my power tools are battery.

I think you will find Men's sheds are required to allow females or I suppose the ones who can't make up their minds.
I considered joining the one in Mannum but I can only do the coffee and chat bit but not allowed in working areas because of Ruby my emotional support dog. Instead I am playing in Terry and Margaret's back yard cleaning a bench rescued from the fire. I bought a little lathe and I had a few tools etc that were luckily in the container. I know when I was in Lions and we had to admit females, we lost quite a few members immediately on orders from their wife's and many dribbled away due to the no longer being what it was meant for. A place for men to go and mix and chat with men, often speaking fellowship and advise on their troubles or concerns. It is not or should be, just fixing things. I looked at the Lions club here in Mannum and once was enough. I thing mens clubs etc should have the same rights as CWA and female only gyms etc. It is essential, in my mind, for their to be places were there should be one sex. Even the prostrate group has females attending. Did not even go to one meeting.
I know I would be considered exist but I would like to have time to discuss things and spend time with others, but don't want demanding females controlling what we can discuss. Used to attend a meeting once a month for Myasthenia Gravis but the last couple meetings I told to just listen as one person only wanted to let females discuss their cases. I was often the only male and as I have got the MG under control without the horrendous drus and their terrible side effects, just using canabis oil. Been working for nearly 7 years

I agree that there should be "clubs" for men and women's clubs but had thought that maybe once a month the men could allow women into their domain to learn a few little "men's" skills, esp. if the woman is alone and has no one to assist. I also believe that if women do go to mainly men's places and they get offended by the language then stiff cooncheddar, they chose to go there.

A Men’s Shed in a nearby town voted to admit women some years ago.
As more women joined, the number of men attending dwindled.
It is now an exclusively female Shed.
At a recent regional get-together of Shed members, five women turned up from this Shed.
One woman complained when a man stood to speak, with frequent use of the F-bomb.
She was told by the Chairman that it was a men’s organisation and if she didn’t like the language the door was not locked.
Funny thing, the women from that Shed have not attended subsequent Shed gatherings… 🤔
But it’s still called a Men’s Shed — even though they have no male members any more.
