Following the driver's medical;
I also managed to have the latest released COVID-19 vaccination.
This was followed by the Prolon (spelling) biannual abdominal injection to counter bone degeneration.
All of this was coupled with my first Shingles vaccination.
Just for good measure, my GP decided that I was required to update the annual flu injections.
I didn't even receive a cup of milo or a hot drink, with a few Tim Tams.
The consultation was almost as painful on the back pocket as a trip to Bunnings.

It's good to hear that you are good to go for another footy season Keith. But there's nothing like a trip to the GP for the annual inspection to lighten the wallet a bit, is there.

David, you are right there mate. The taxi fares to and fro alone cost more than the GP charge for the extended consultation, however, the good Government is going to refund me a bit of the expenditure, so I may be able to afford a coffee at a sit-down place.

We dragged the van to Koala Shores today. It's in Port Stephens area and has been a favourite in times gone by. We drove through almost sunshine and some very thin clouds, but arrived in good time. As we arrived, we noticed how run down the park feels. Pulling into our site, we were greeted by some ferals sitting on camp chairs, with loud music blaring and it was obvious that our arrivals were going to be their afternoon entertainment.
The area around us is covered with what appears to be residential caravans and all of their rubbish. Seems they have been moved here from a badly derelict park that is going to become an old folks home. The feeling is very much ghetto, so not really happy about the neighbourhood.

I am almost glad that it's really cold and raining. We can't hear any of the noise from across the road at the moment. As we are here with our jayco mob, we are hoping for some warmer times and the chance for some happy hours. Not really holding our breath. The weatherman says it will be dry for a couple of days, so fingers crossed.

We seem to be in the driest part of the park, further away from the locals, it is very sodden and puddley. It's a long weekend, so we will be making the best of it for a few days yet.

Hope it improves for you tomorrow and for the rest of the long weekend Deborah.
We left the camping area at Ariah Park around 4:30pm, it rained so much over night it took that long to get everything drained off and/or simply stuffed in its plastic bag, mud and all, to sort out at the next spot.
Arrived at the free camp by the rail station at Grenfell around 7:30 ... only 120km but a lot of flooded water sections, hard to see through the rain and people not dipping their lights, very slow going.
The place is a lake at the moment, they must have had big rain here over the last few days, hope it clears up for the Henry Lawson festival over the weekend ...

Good evening, tried to rain late arvo I needed to collect my wheel from the Gwando servo, managed to get a nail in the tyre & discovered it flat in the garage yesterday, needed the windscreen wipers on driving half way home then it stopped.
Played social bowls today, the wind was chilly even though the sun was shinning, fortunately no rain.

Enjoy your weekend with the Jayco mob Deborah, that park use to be 5 sorry to hear that you’ve found it a little run down, we use to own an industrial block of land there in the industrial area on the left on the way into town.

Hopefully you’re on the improve Dot & George is well enough to be taking good care of you, get well soon both of you.

It's sad to see the standard dropping so far from how we remembered this park. I accept that people have a right to a home and this is where they have stopped. The standards of care seem to be lacking. One family with several dogs are in what appears to be a shipping container, they must be frozen. They are driving a couple of mercedes, so I suspect poverty isn't an issue. Not my place to judge, but I do feel sorry for them, whatever reason they have for being here. It just feels like the old caravan parks from the 1950's, with lots of vagrants in static vans.

On a brighter note, the sun shone today, so we have been out and about. We had lunch in a local RSL, that was only ok. Steak sanga on a Turkish bun (when will this crappy tough bun phase end?), the steak was lovely for half of it and the rest was inedible. Bit disappointing there.
Happy hour with a fire pit and a lot of smoke (wood is damp, just from the atmosphere) lasted quite a few hours. I was chilled to the bone and headed back to the heated an, but others stayed out quite a lot longer.
