Nylon strings are used on acoustic classical guitars, they provide a softer gentler sound suited for a lot of classical music. Kids guitars like standard and jumbo guitars come with strings suited to the style of music, kids acoustic and semi acoustic guitars all come with steel strings as do electric kids guitars. Classical acoustic guitars come with nylon, prior to nylon they used animal guts for strings.T1 Terry wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2024 10:32 am Maybe the wind made the strings vibrate and cause a not so pleasant noise? Steel strings would rust away? Nylon strings would decay in the harsh sunlight .. and nylon strings are for kids guitars ......
Google saysT1 TerryIt is constructed out of fibreglass and wood, with steel reinforcements. The Golden Guitar has no strings because it was modelled directly on the Golden Guitar trophies given to winners at the Country Music Awards of Australia ceremony night during the Tamworth Country Music Festival.

Re: Thought for Today
I guess you’ve got to have guts to play an acoustic guitar.

Was that a catty remark

Re: Thought for Today
Actually acoustic guitar today playing is gutless

My thought for the day is about my last horse dying after 37 years which was a very sad occasion, she failed to come up for food last week over 2 days and found her in the bottom paddock unable to get up. Even used the tractor to help her up but she just lay down again, so covered her and spent the day with her wetting her lips and soothing her until she looked at me and quietly passed away. She's now resting beside her brother who died 2 years ago at 36 and still look for her in the paddocks, no more horse for me, they live to long and get to ingrained in my life. The dogs sat down with her as well and never left as they used to have great games together, even Bindi who she kicked and took out her right eye last year. Bindi didn't blame her because it was my neighbours dog Rastus who was annoying Myrtle and Bindi came in to piss him off and copped the kick meant for Rastus. Life goes on and is snuffed out before we know it, which is a pain in the butt at times.

Re: Thought for Today
NP, I'm sorry to hear of your loss mate. It's just so hard to say goodbye to a long time part of your life. They are more than pets, its not just a horse, or just a dog. They are mates.
Cheers

Re: Thought for Today
Thanks David, I agree our animals are mates and good ones, they never complain or over demand, just fo theirjob and enjoy being with you. Except my kelpies, who constantly pester me about something and my Bindi is very pushy and way to smart for her own good, but love her dearly and she keeps me on my toes. Once she works something out which is normally pretty fast, she uses it and always give me a good laugh. If she doesn't get her way she throws herself on the floor and grumbles, which is hilarious.

Re: Thought for Today
Agree, NP,
We have had many dog companions since I met Joy (SWMBO
), and saying goodbye never gets easier.
Until now we have had Labradors, which have stayed with us for an average of 14~15 years. Our last Lab lived to 16. His mate was a Beagle, our first, who also made 16.
We still miss them all.
Our present pair of girls are Greyhounds, who average only 10 years or so. We acquired Kelly when she was seven, and is now approaching 10. Megs was approaching three. She’s now five, so we’ll have more time with her.
We have noticed Kelly’s muzzle is greying, and we will soon have to face the usual very difficult situation. Not something we look forward to.
I said after we farewelled Paddy and the Beagle, “No more dogs!” but weakened when we learned about the dog racing industry.
I’m sure I’ll say it again in a few years when we say goodbye to Megs. Hoping that we will be able to resist the temptation to take on another pair, as I’d hate to go before them and leave our son to find homes for them.
I know your pain, NP, and you have my sympathy.

Re: Thought for Today
The saddest is not being able to say goodbye, that last pat and cuddle. "Putin tat" was checking out the motorhome in the morning to determine safe places and where he could sleep, requiring at least 3 of each, seemed happy with that, gave me a smouch and purr and headed off to check the borders of his territory ..... and we haven't seen him since ...... I still have dreams I can feel him jumping on the bed and snuggling in to get warm .... when I finish waking up, he isn't there, the pain is just as strong as the first night he didn't come home ... and gets stronger by the day .....
