Terrie, have you had a look at Rocket Industries. I'm sure you will know who they are. They hold so much stuff in Oz, it's not funny. I just can't for the life of me remember, what the turbo boost hose is really called. Good luck.
Cheers

Our house lost big time

I'm guessing the turbo hose you are talking about is the Gates silicon 3 layer stuff.supersparky wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 11:27 pm Terrie, have you had a look at Rocket Industries. This adapter hose not only changes the big flat sided oval down to 90mm, but it is shock absorbing as well, the piece between the aluminium throttle housing and aluminium manifold, is plastic, I'm guessing to insulate the throttle body from the intake heat differences, or to stop sound resonance .... but maybe just cheap to make, but it needs that flexibility I guess to avoid cracking or breaking it. The tappet covers are plastic and I'm guessing that is both a sound thing and cheap thing, but they seem tough enough.
The big plenum chamber the air intake feeds into is also plastic. Seems a lot of the later US engines have a heap of plastic parts on them rather than the cast aluminium, but they seem to hold together ok.

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
I could find engine parts, but this hose seems to be vehicle specific, even with the part number matching, some say in the product fitment list it will fit, others say it won't fit, like the E Bay vehicle part matching thingy .... so it's a case of see what arrives and see if it fits.
I believe I have found a work around to get by until I get the correct part. A number of turbo intercooler adaptor hoses to step from 4.5" to 4" an aluminium joiner pipe, a 1" pipe to weld in the side for the idle compensator hose to fit, then another adaptor hose from 4" to 3'5" .... and a couple of those bolt tightening band strap clamps to hold the join together.
The correct adaptor hose is off set to bring the 3.5" end towards the front of the engine more than straight out, I'll have to try and adapt the middle hose joints to match, that was why I went for the more solid strap clamps than worm drive clamps and a pipe joiner with rolled ends rather than just a piece of 4" pipe with a bend added by an exhaust shop .....
Time will tell I guess, it might work out better than the original, it will at least be able to handle some back fire pressure, if that ever occurs ..... a replacement Impco 425 mixer is easier to find with a few days delivery max than that adaptor pipe .....

As far as the house losing big time, both the Purnong Rd house and our house on wheels lost big time in the fire
As far as wrong photo or part number, that evil bay link has the photo and part number to match, but the other photos in the gallery highlight a different hose in the mass of plumbing between the throttle body and the air cleaner.

If the part number is listed in the title and the principle photo is the one you need, then I would argue that that is what you ordered. It's still Sat over there. Send them a message via the contact on your purchase and confirm with them.
Don't write a million words like most, nobody reads it. Just a one liner confirming the part number is xxxxxx

I think I have finally tracked down the problems searching for this part. There are 5 different V10 6.8 ltr air intakes:jon_d wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 10:42 am Bargains to be had.

The early model has different intake ports and is a pre Pi Post Pi This is the one I have
The later model V10 6.8 ltr is a 3 valve head with a different manifold and throttle body faces forward towards the fan but in the centre... can't find a photo but this but it is the manifold the cheaper throttle body adapter hose fits
Then there are these manifolds that I can't find photos with throttle bodies and It appears, none of these throttle body hoses fit my manifold, possibly a deleted line, I found plenty of (Discontinued line) examples in a Canadian Ford Website ......
