Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Dot, it sounds a lot cheaper to have a painter who can use that long handled roller. If there is an easy plan, head for it, has become one of my things. I look for the quickest fix...that can lead to downfall too.. see below.  xxxx

Helen the Port event was slow and not as profitable as usual, but we did make enough for my next glass purchase. That has been ordered already. ;)

Bernie, Carol is having a great recovery if she is still in no pain. I can't say the same here, but I refuse to take the strong stuff and if panadol isn't enough, tough live with it, is how I think. My pain levels are really doing a lot better these days, with no drugs at all. Six weeks has flown.

Today I did the annual eye test and she refused to give me a new script until I get both cataracts done....more stress.

In the kiln last night, I had two splat bowls that both needed to be bent into shape. Neither of them is great and this is where I should not always look for the cheapest fix. Tonight the most important one is getting another warm up to get a flatter bum. Tomorrow night, the same will happen for the other splat bowl. I am just trying to get the kiln things sorted before I start on my own Christmas shopping things. I seem to have started that online anyways. We always have a ton of appointments this time of year, so a little bit of slow time might be needed soon.

Dot, whatever happens in the great USofA is out of our control. Not worth losing sleep over that's for sure. The world will never be the same place it was when we were younger and people actually gave a toss about things. Also, how many really small communities can you think of that are still flourishing. I can count on both hands, the number of empty shops just in our tiny mainstreet. That's progress for you. Hope the strawberries were tasty. xxxx

Today I was feeling happy with the replacement splat bowl. It came out of the kiln and needed a lot of the edges filed down. They had little furry edges that felt quite sharp and prickly. Once I had it ready for sale, I sent off photos to the lady who broke her splat bowl. Tonight, she replied with the suggestion to make it more light green and paler blue. What the? Luckily, that bowl will be easily sold, so not a deal breaker. I have another splat in the kiln tonight having it's bum flattened. Sadly, it has huge bright yellow happy faces on it. That won't appeal to this "lady" at all.

Tomorrow, I have to visit the chirpractor and do a bit of shopping, but I think I better find some time to cut some new glass to keep this person off my tail. I really have been so gracious about building her a replacement in similar colours, but now it's getting a bit tedious. Oh well back to the salt mines....

Deborah I reckon that woman is being a bit weird, in your art work nothing ever comes out the same she is being pedantic, Pee her off or up the price. I had a meeting with the roof man today, checked his id asked what they used (plastic / rubber paint stuff like you put on the M/h roofs) he will also paint the gables, replace the solar panel framing (poles) take off and replace the old bare wiring into a conduit (now legally required) and clean the panels as well. Not to bad I suppose seeing we are not doing anything with solar. He has family here as well. Job will take 3 days IF the weather is good. I got another $1500 off. Had a treatment with AJ and she was gentle with me  G replaced the water anode thingy and has stared on installing the new inverter in the bus. Noticed some downy mildew on the apple tree, how many bugs do we have to fight these days? never ending diseases. I am now identifying with being old, I was pulling 2 pots apart when one scraped the top of my hand, bled like a stuck pig, it managed to hit a vein, G panicked, made me go inside, washed hand, put iodine on and topped with a band aid. Paper skin the old persons woes.. Off to bed now so Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Macca x :D

Dot, that roof man sounds ok. If in doubt put a question on the local f**kbook page asking for suggestions to get the roof painted. If he is a good local, somebody will call him out. That is assuming you have a busy f**kbook page like our town has. It's the only place that sees any action here.

I had a win today. The posty delivered my large glass order and it was many shades of blues (as ordered). His nibs delivered it to my shed and unpacked it for me, so that it only needed to be sorted etc. I pulled out all the blues that were still in the racks and got to sorting them into light and dark and greeny. I found just the right glass for Mrs picky and then found homes for all of the other sheets of glass. Like Dot so kindly says, my work is always very different, but I almost agreed with the cranky git that the first plate had a lot of black/dark shaded areas on it. The next model is now having the first fusing warm up and hopefully all that's left to do tomorrow is to clean it up and set it to slump into the mold. It will probably be too light, but that is how it will be.

Next was visit to chiropractor. Once she saw how well I am going, she started on the questions. Who was the physio and surgeon, how did the rehab at the hospital work out, what exercises am I still doing and she continued for a long time. Turns out that both of her knees are shot, so we discussed the option of having both done at once. She agreed with me, take it slowly if you can, have one done at a time and don't wait until there is no option. I expect to have to miss seeing her early next year, while she gets her knee sorted.

Next was a visit to the chemist for drugs. I have read that panadol osteo may have to be sold in much smaller packages soon. So I boldly asked the chemist if I could have two boxes today (one for him) and she broke the rules and gave me two. Does help if you ask the boss for those things!
A big freezer fill of meat was called for. So that was the next task. The shelf is back to being full and the cook can have some choices now.

That is how a really non eventful, but tiring and busy, day can happen here.
Night all xxx

We had a ripper of an electrical storm tonight. Lots of lightning and thunder. Not a real lot of rain or high wind. It's still rolling around, but is way off now.
The past few nights there have been lots and lots of little red eyed bugs about. They look like a cicada, but only 25mm long. Haven't heard 'em singing. The Mil has never seen them before and she's lived here all her life. Anyone know what they might be?
Cheers

Watching the MH370 search, so long ago now 2015 and just a part of a wing is all they got. Where the hell can it have gone? Off to the shower and to bed. Hope all are well. Dot, I wonder if someone else had already found the plane and were removing it part by part? Just a thought. Sorry that you had a slow day today, but I have just joined you in the slow day challenge. xxxx

If you haven't read up there, we had such a slow day that it was really not a day at all. By the time that we were awake enough to do anything, the storm clouds were rolling above us quite violently. Obviously, not smart to set up a kiln when the power may be disrupted. I don't know how long the battery back up would keep the kiln running, and I don't want to find out now.
We ended up having a lot of on and off rain with a fair bit of theatrics above us, so that vindicated us on our slack day. Might get back to it tomorrow.

Stay calm, we are just readjusting to being retired and not really working to immediate deadlines. I have to have the plate done by next Tuesday, so a slack day isn't an issue, yet.
