Winnebago Alpine TV replacement

We have a 2006 Winnebago Alpine with the TV inbuilt to cabinetry above the driving position. Ours does not have a bed in that area, unlike quite a few I have seen.
It looks like the cabinet was assembled on the shop floor then installed into the motorhome as a complete unit.
That seems to be the process for the shower cubicle and the front and rear slideouts as well. Probably makes good economic sense at the factory. It's only ever going to be an issue if you need to replace the tv. Which now becomes a problem as our TV has failed to proceed.
The big question is, how do you get it out?

It looks like you can get access through a vent in the adjacent cupboard but you would need an arm at least a foot (300 mm) longer than normal. If you remove the vent you will find a 100mm hole that can put your phone /camera into an take a few pics or video.
There is no other way to gain access to the fixings without dismantling some of the woodwork.
There is a small cupboard about 700 x 100mm and 200m deep underneath the tv unit.
The back of that cupboard is attached from the rear. Gently tap the back of it off. It is only secured with nails. You just need to be a bit careful.
When that is removed you can now gain access (sort of) to the 4 mounting screws the most TV's now have to facilitate wall mounting. You will need to have long skinny arms like me. Use a stumpy Philips head screwdriver to loosen all 4 screws. Now you can undo and remove all 4 screws, with a drill. Do to the close proximity of everything in the work area, use you face to hold up the tv when the last screw is removed.

Where does the stuff go went it falls out the back of the cupboard .... that now doesn't have a back on it?

In our Winnie, there is a big cupboard either side of the TV, but it's relatively new TV and the doors are just chipboard ...... wondering if this was a different technique to get the old TV out ......

Terry, I think in your Winny it's a whole different setup. Yours is a chassis up build and ours is a big white box plonked on an an Isuzu cab chassis.
They don't appear to have reinforced much when they cut the back of the cab either, but another whole different story.
I might put the back of the little cupboard back on when I'm finished. It will create one less place to lose stuff if I do it properly.

Nah, I found 'em. Haven't lost any for ages. Misplaced 'em plenty of times but never lost.

Perhaps a large hammer through the middle of the screen would ease access.
Seriously, getting a slightly larger tv and using a jigsaw sounds like a reasonable way. Although then you have the issue of mounting it.
Girt had a CRT TV when we bought her. The big glass tube occupied the whole centre of the overhead cabinet.
Our regular maintenance bloke removed it and mounted our replacement flat screen on a new cupboard door he made for the hole.
He used black melamine for the door, as there was no way he could match the timber doors either side. It looked like it had been there all along. New owners never twigged that it was a replacement. He also cut a hole behind the tv so we could access the manual buttons in case the remote Failed to Proceed.
Perhaps you should consider that as an alternative…

I've got it out now Ray. Was just a bit difficult trying to figure out how Mr Winnebago actually installed it. The only possible way is that the complete overhead unit was bench assembled then installed before the slideout was fitted to the big white box.
Now I'm having fun figuring out where all the RCA leads and extra TV antenna lead go to/from.The previous owner owner had a portable satellite system and most of the cabling from that is still in situ.
Luckily it's raining here today and I have time to figure it out, maybe.
The reinstall might be interesting.

A few more pics of all the antenna connections etc for the terrestrial aerial and sufficient spares for two satellite boxes.
Interestingly, there is not an aerial cable for the tv, everything went through the DVD or sat boxes.

There's lots of stuff that goes nowhere now.
I just hope I can find a tv that fits the hole, or at least close to fitting.

Install one of those swing out TV brackets.

Then, you have some more accessible storage space behind the TV.
