When we did the CPR part of our medical emergency training at TAFE, broken ribs were an expected part of keeping the patient alive, we just had to be careful not to break off the tip of the sternum because that could kill all by itself ..... A hard call to make, but our instruction assured us, better a few broken ribs than dead .....

T1,
When I did my Workplace First Aid qualification, the instructor said exactly that: better alive with a few broken ribs than the alternative.

He is sitting up smiling and having a meal, mashed spuds, pumpkin mushy peas and Savoury mince. I think we may be on the right track but still early days yet. x

"tanks" --- here
Norman, if you can eat hospital food you must be well on the way to mending, go
for it mate and you will be back in the paddock in no time.
I'm now 87 years old, having experienced another birthday, and I'm still living in WA, single (gave up looking), white hair, no teeth, no money, no worries.
I plan to have another birthday next year.
