Thought for Today

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Re the US pile-up video & T1’s explanation of the US truckers’ pay system:
I would have thought that surviving the journey was an ambition which should override the choice between getting paid and driving beyond the safety levels required for snow-covered roads. 🤔

We are talking about US citizens here aren't we ........ Didn't they just vote for a President they had already had a taste of his abilities 2 yrs earlier ....... and you think they know about making the right choices regarding survival? Let's face it, would anyone in this country drive a truck ... for a company ..... with that type of payment system where you put your life on the line every time you start that truck up and put into gear ..... they are a different breed over there, they are forced into accepting jobs an Aussie would offer the middle finger as a sign of what they think about the pay and conditions .... but an Aussie has a fall back position, not much money, but not forced into suicide type jobs just to get enough money to keep a roof over their family's head and some food on the table .....

Our neighbour who rang us and videoed the house fire had a skilled job in the tech industry over there .... he says moving to Australia was the best thing he ever did and wonders why he had stayed in the US for so long ..... even though he had a skilled job and was well off compared to the average citizen over there .... when he arrived here he was stunned by the fact he was in the equivalent of the lower levels as far his financial position compared to the average Aussie, not the down on their luck level, but certainly not well off enough to simply buy a house, even in a small country town like Mannum .....

T1,
You’re right. I forgot we’re talking about Americans.
SIXTY PERCENT of whom have the reading ability of an Australian 5th grade student. 🙄
And, it appears, very short memories. 🤔

Using the laws of the German Constitution, it took Hitler 52 days to dismantle the entire government.
Trump has just under 40 days left…

You will notice that the Congress has been silent while the Executive Orders have been flying thick and fast.
Government by Decree has begun.

I think you need to read the actual constitution, not someone interpretation of what it says, the constitution is what the founding fathers put in writing and the amendments are what were later added via court rulings.

The Supreme Court is where highly paid and funny dressed legal eagles argue about interpretation, it is not until they convince a full judicial bench that their interpretation is the correct one, can they get an amendment added to make it the law .... without that, it's not much better than watching a Fox/Sky news reports .....

As far as the majority knowing what they were doing .... really, if all the votes were counted and not the percentage marked as invalid, even the college vote would have gone against him ..... but even then, the popular vote count doesn't add up as him winning, only the college vote weird system got him over the line .... how can the college votes be cast before all the votes are counted? Only in America seems to be the answer that makes the most sense ..... and a "filibuster" WTF is that all about ?????

There is still the Breaker Morant rule ......... just in modern day terms
The longest-ever recorded sniper kill of all time was performed in 2023 by Viacheslav Kovalsky, a then 58-year-old former businessman turned soldier in the Security Service of Ukraine, with a distance of 3,800 meters or 2.56 miles during the Russian Invasion of Ukraine.30 Dec 2024
No need to climb on a container and miss at that close range ..... do you think the Secret Service has enough "MAN" power to cover every sniper position for a 2 1/2 mile radius every where Donald walks ..... I wonder if Elon has thought about that either ..... this was an older ex businessman that made that kill shot, I wonder how many businessmen the two of them will send broke or try to get shipped out that can handle a gun???? It's not like Presidents have been assassinated in the US before ......
