I was thinking that it as going to be the other way around.
Like the Elon/Donald meme, "I'm the president, that's my spotlight", "not likely, I paid for it and if it wasn't for me, you'd be facing serious court problems and quite likely bankruptcy" "only as long as I let you run with the dept slashing program, there are still dept operating that are out for your bank roll" .... "you think you can beat my lawyers do you?" .... "OK, it's your spotlight" ....

As much as I worry about Trump and Musk.

A Musk clean up at the local council would help bring the rates down.

Just look at North Sydney with the double of rates on a vote of 7 people.

It's not like anyone who could to live in Nth Sydney couldn't afford it .....
A few yrs back, a US city council put a 3 yr rates freeze into action ..... they went bankrupt resulting in no garbage collection, no lawn mowing and all the outdoor staff was put on indefinite un paid leave ..... if they did that over here, the upside would be, no one spending days leaning on a shovel blocking off half the road for a week and no new potholes being installed .....

Nah, cars and buses install potholes for free. Then trucks come along and make them bigger. It's not the councils fault.

I started this topic in the hope people could see some good news & marvel at what can be achieved when dedication & money are thrown at a 'problem' only to once again have the topic hijacked by the usual suspects.
Once hijacked others joined in. Who can blame them?
If I cleanse this topic I guess it'll be compared to that old forum?
Even the "joke" section has been infiltrated?
Rant over ..................

Sorry Bruce. But I get your point. It is amazing how things have improved since we were all kids. But I see on the news some kids have got themselves into deep trouble with AI.
But we shouldn't go there, because it's a bigger hijack.
Cheers

No, I didn't really want any apology, rather was just pointing it out.
I've seen this trend on other forums I visit as well as on multiple Facebook Groups etc.
I put it mostly down to the armchair syndrome. (or keyboard syndrome?)
Over many years the face to face contact & respect has been whittled away.
I'm not sure there is any answer at all.

I think the whole starlink thing seems to be extremely good for those not served well by the NBN (most of this country ?) But I choke on giving any money to musk so I will keep struggling with foxed wireless. Funny thing is it works quite well for 99.*% of the time with occasional problems. However asking it to handle a wifi phone call and it throws up its hands. Telstra says NBN fault, NBN syas Telstra fault. Oh well, not that many calls these days anyway, seems many are falling off the perch ! There you go Bruce, back on track !

While on tour coupla years ago we asked a fellow camper about their little square thing on a pole.
Explanation complete, they told us the cost. 😳
Our Optus mobile broadband dongle will do much the same thing for WAAAY less $$$! 😁

Problem is 80% of Australian doesn’t have phone signal.
