Coombabah Park on Oxley Drive northern end of Gold Coast. Opposite the Coombabah Primary School. Fairly level at rear, 30 min walk to Runaway Bay Shopping Centre, with corner shop 5 min north. Fishing on Coomera River 10 min walk west.
It's a school park so weekends and holidays would certainly be quieter but have seen it used often. No facilities so definitely self contained.

Am sure most folk on this forum would be aware of Calliope River west of Gladstone, I think............great spot, park on the top road (best for TV) or on the grass in the gully among the trees.

Yes thankyou 'Whiteman'....... Russell is right though. We have people from all over Australia, NZ & elsewhere & although we all know our own backyards well, we do appreciate info on other areas we may go to one day.

Oh Wow a Gold Coast site, I thought they were extinct. I googled the site but had no other info. Must have a look sometime. Re: Queensland Camping Spots
When I get a chance i will enter the co ordinates. Basically Oxley Drive is north - south from Nerang Road Ashmore to the Hope Island Bridges at Paradise Point.
If coming from the north Take the Sanctuary Cove turn off from the Motorway to Brisbane and follow the signs through all the roundabouts until you get to two bridges crossing the Coomera River then it is just after Columbus Drive Hollywell on the left, drive in and go down the back where it is fairly level.
If coming from the south there is a set of lights for school kids at the Coombabah Primary School, immediately after these lights to the north there is a right turn lane to the park, if you get to the lights at Columbus drive you have gone too far.
I wouldn't be putting awnings etc up but it is often used and there is no hassle, respect the locals and keep any noise down. It is recessed into a nature reserve and behind housing in Columbus Drive. A bicycle track runs through it and leads you to Runaway Bay shops.
