So, how much will that override kit set you back, if you decide to run down that road? It looks like it's all there, and brand new. Your trailer is rated to 2000kg, so it should be legal. All you need is the brackets welded to the axle and your good to go.

Must be a lot different in Qld than here in SA?
A trailer registration has nothing to do with the towing vehicle what so ever.
Any registered trailer in SA can be towed by any registered vehicle at all.
As long as it can be shown that a power source can/will activate the electric brakes it should pass inspection.
A battery on the ground & some jumper leads?
OK to keep sweet with the inspector it'd be desirable to show the trailer brakes activate when the brakes are applied in the towing vehicle.
So much less hassle in SA I can tell you!!

Bernie if you unhook that trailer on a steep hill is there any type of hand brake to lock the wheels from turning? Many electric brake caravans also have the over ride cable operated facility to brake manually?

I think you've missed the point Bruce. Bernie has bought the trailer to tow behind his motorhome. The motorhome doesn't have the electric brake control that the trailer requires.
To get rego on a trailer in Qld all you need to produce is a roadworthy certificate and a pic of the chassis number and compliance plate. It is easy peasy.

Or find one that works via wireless remote, between vehicle and trailer. That way, the brake controller can be move between vehicles and no wiring to run. As the trailer is being registered for 2000kg max total weight loaded, it doesn't need a break away system, so it must have a manually operated parking brake that is functional.

the crazy part is, the Break Away system only has to lock the brakes for 5 mins to pass inspection ..... after that, the thing can roll away .... yet it isn't a safety concern

At least with the hydraulic pump Break Away unit, the built up pressure is released into the brake circuit, then a lock off valve holds the brakes locked until it is released. The system can also use the electronic driver control to over ride the "over ride" brake system, while leaving it operational for use with another vehicle that doesn't have the driver operated trailer brake controller ...... it's the roughly $1,000 price tag that takes the breath away .....
