Farcical.
There were more important issues to address than Zelenskyy’s dress code. 🙄
Who cares anyway? Provided he didn’t turn up in a mankini.
He was there to cement a deal with “the world’s greatest deal maker” (according to Trump, anyway), and when the deal didn’t include some reassurances of support from USA, the Mango MAGA Madman and his echo got sh!tty with him and began insulting the Ukrainian President!
Who disrespected the Oval Office?

BTW, while Associated Press & Reuters were banned from the Oval Office for not renaming the Gulf of Mexico, a journalist from TASS (Russia’s state-controlled media) was there, live-streaming the whole show to Moscow!
Trump was heard commenting after Zelenskyy departed, “That’ll make great television!”
The former American Ambassador to Russia commented afterward that he suspected the whole thing was a setup by Trump and his echo.
Regards & God bless,
Ray

I think nobody knows. There was an article in a paper talking about how the US is headed towards a very deep recession. My super as dropped a couple of %. I've chickened out and gone quite defensive until things settle down, including our federal election.
Maybe I should have gone chicken x2

And yet when buddy saudis turn up at the WH in their bedoin robes do they get asked if they have a suit ? Ridiculous.
I see one of the hangers on was chastising Zelensky as he was told that guarantees for security would be negotiated after the signing, seems Zelensky trust trumpy about as much as he trusts pootin.
Trump says "hundreds of billions" in investment would flow to Ukraine obce the deal was signed, I can't see many yank investors throwing their money into Ukraine with putin sitting there waiting to pounce ? Something smells off here.
Dunno how much credibility but seems several ex intelligence people say trump was turned in the 1980's so putin has the dirt and makes hin do whatever he wants. In any normal administration those claims would be thoroughgly investigated, this one ? Not likely I feel.

FFS
Seems to me the Trump Hate wagon is rolling along nicely in this forum.
If "Slinky" had signed the deal he'd agreed to it would have taken USA backing away from Ukraine and loosened up the negotiating power for a Peace Deal with Russia.
At the moment "Slinky is desperate to win at all costs and without the USA he has no hope!
But it seems that with him it will be fight and kill, to the last Ukraine standing, that will be "Slinky himself in one of his Florida Mansions that he is alleged to have.
The deal was for USA to have mining rights in Ukraine, which pretty much put Americans on the ground there, then Russia would be hamstrung, and to attack there would involve USA.
So NO NATO in Ukraine, but a peace deal that could be worked out with Putin and avert WW111

But on this forum it's all Trump - Trump - Thump, Hate , hate , hate (as if it really matters to the international world ?????????????? )

Ron it IS in the joke section?
In a couple of years time some may see the light.
Negotiation & manipulation is much better than sending a million young men to die.
Anyone would think OUR present leaders are better than what some other countries have.

Ron, if that is the case, why would trump not give security guarantees ?
Zelensky was told he had to sign first and security would be negotiated afterwards, Yeah right ! He doen's trust trump or putin, pretty good judge of character I would say.

If we can find this thread in 2 yrs time, it will be interesting to see who was misled.

With the unrest Trump has generated throughout the world, most foreign financial institutions are selling their US debt ..... but who is buying it?

A brief overview:

What is the method buying US debt? That's called the bond market .... not James Bond, US back bonds that pay interest depending on the type of bond. As usual with anything American, the name is misleading
U.S. Treasury bonds are issued by the U.S. government, while savings bonds are issued by the U.S. Treasury and agency bonds are issued by government agencies.
U.S. Treasury bonds
The U.S. government guarantees Treasury bonds if held until maturity
Treasury bonds are issued at auction and can be purchased through a bank or broker
Treasury bonds pay interest every six months and return the principal at maturity
Savings bonds
The U.S. Treasury offers series EE and series I savings bonds
Savings bonds sell at face value and have a fixed rate of interest
Agency bonds
Agency bonds are issued by government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) or federal agencies
Agency bonds are considered low-risk, but not as safe as U.S. Treasurys
Agency bonds may have a call risk, meaning the issuer can repay the bond before its maturity date
Agency bonds are usually taxable at the federal and state level
Some agency bonds are fully backed by the U.S. government
Other types of bonds include: Treasury bills (T-bills), Treasury notes (T-notes), Treasury inflation-protected securities (TIPS), and Municipal bonds.

So, most investments held by foreign central banks are U.S. Treasury Bonds, because they are backed by the govt.
Because the USD is the world reserve currency, these bonds were considered the safest place to put excess funds that were secure and earned good interest.

Then Trump created huge waves in the once financially stable USD. What was once a very safe investment, has become a much weaker security.
If the alternate currencies gain a big foothold, like Bit Coin and the many foreign backed crypto coins, the Chinese crypto Yaun is emerging as a big mover, and the BRICS currency, get going, while the US in turning inwards rather than being a global player, the USD could lose the reserve currency status and the world would no longer see the US are a good place to invest.

So, if the foreign financial intuitions are selling their US bonds, the price would need to be reduced to tempt others believe that they are a good investment ...... who thinks the US is a good place to invest? Who else but the mega rich in the US itself. They need to back the govt to keep their wealth in proportion to the rest of the world, if the USD drops in value, so does their wealth ....

If you think the US economy isn't in as bad a shape as many predict, look here https://www.ceicdata.com/en/indicator/u ... Dec%202024.

Keep in mind, this chart ends before Trump took office for the second time, the next lot of figures will come out in March .......

Reply I will.
So you possibly don't like my "nick" for the Ukrainian Dictator _ Volodymyr Zelenskyy, a transvesite cross dressing actor that somehow became a President, mainly because his popular TV show, a poor actor that became a president ( ?! )
Well, that's my personal view of him after reviewing in my own time all that's been written that I could find ( in English ) about him, and to my mind none of it comes out nice.
That is unless for him you use the "woke definition" of a turd ( That's a turd that someone can pick up by the clean end. )
