Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

T1,
As the couple with the Leaf are retired, I doubt they would have a lazy $36,000 lying around to update their car to newer technology just because it’s faster at recharging.
It’s not exactly like a simple software update.
Another friend is still driving around in a 1963 Holden.
Doesn’t need any updates to refill the tank at the service station… and it’s just as quick now as it was in 1963!
Regards & God bless,
Ray

I do understand what you lot are all crowing about solar power etc, but after LG has done so much damage to my trust in anything lithium, I will be happy to stay with a petrol guzzling V8 patrol as our tow vehicle and my little gutless rav 4 with a petrol motor. I do not expect to be buying a new car in the foreseeable future. What we have is not broke, so it does not need to be fixed or replaced.

We found time to drag the van down to the yard and said gutless rav 4 did a wonderful job putting the van in it's usual spot. Definitely would not try to tow the van up the steep drive with it, but the rav is ok doing some dragging around the yard on relatively level surfaces, where his patrol doesn't have the turning circle to achieve success.

I thought we were doing a big grocery shop today, but the builder turned up, ready to get started on the jetty repairs. Well his nibs was in his element, playing with power tools and doing the running and fetching. Shopping can wait. I did some more indoors things that have no real consequences except a cleaner home.

night all xxx
How long would the electricity bills and fuel bills for the Rave 4 take to add up to $32,000, less hat ever you got as trade in for the Rav 4? The V8 Landcruiser is another story, although LDV just released a hybrid dual cab ute for around $60,000 that would embarrass the cruiser for towing ability and fuel consumption ......

LDV delivery vans are a nightmare for couriers that purchased them, always something breaking down & definitely not built to last long.
Another courier that purchased an LDV that lived close to the ocean, the LDV was showing signs of rust when only 2 years old.

Yes David the insomnia is a never ending drama, some nights I don’t sleep at all.
No, haven’t played bowls for several weeks, stopped when I was diagnosed with shingles & only just finished medication for same & I was diagnosed with a lung infection, I have been extremely tired & flat out keeping the household up to date. :D

Another night of falling asleep in the chair. Deborah we didn't get as much rain as the city did but enough to keep things happy. The bamboos are starting to come right thanks to the seasol soaking. AJ popped in to check up on me and to tell us her city rooms had been broken into and ransacked along with the 2 Dr's rooms. Funnily enough AJ recognized the culprit as one of the (park dwellers) because she looked straight into the security camera. There is something suss but the cops are not saying too much at present. We spent today tidying up the garden and trying to get organized for out get away which will include our friends Jack Russell along with Brian  Good luck with your cataract surgery Deborah Shirley I am still waiting for the results of my sleep studies and that isn't until I see the Specialist again in a month or so just hoping she can shed some light on my tiredness. No new super cars and no more solar either, by the time we get our money's worth we will be too decrepit to worry about savings. When Brian dies we shall spend our days travelling /cruising and not having any $$ worries. The BOB's are on soon and once again my footy team lost to of all teams the dam Adelaide crows. Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Busman x :D P.S. Thanks NC George for those lovely pics. Keep warm.

Dot, I have learnt that there is a good relationship with magnesium and sleep. it seems to be working for me. I agree with you on the expense of setting up a solar system. Not worth it now. When we were getting 66 cents per kwh, it was really worth it. xxxx

Shirley, you've been to hell n back. Take care my friend and don't even think about a wet week ahead! If the jetty gets done before the Easter huge tides, I will be happy.

Terry, you miss the point. Too many battery fires and explosions mate. Not in my list of things to have happen in my lifetime. I don't need a car that will need a new expensive battery every five years or replacement with expected trade in of zero, due to it needing a new battery. I did not lose any money on my last car. I kept it for over 20 years and was still a happy little car when I gave it away to our grandson. The losses and gains when constantly trading cars are not in my vocabulary.

George, that pommy place looks pretty posh. History and ancient buildings that our country does not have. The best preserved buildings that we have seen are in Victoria. NSW has been simply demolishing anything that might have some historical significance, for years.

Today, the big shop finally was done. Pantry and fridge are all looking a lot healthier. Now I am exhausted.

night all xxx
Deborah

Nonsense spread by the anti EV and fossil fuel industry. The MG4 we have uses the same chemistry LFP cells as we have used for the last 12 yrs, they are safe, do not explode and have long cycle life The whole vehicle, including the battery, is covered by a 10 yr warranty, so no new battery that costs as much as the car in 5 yrs time.
Unless you buy a Tesla, the trade in value will aways be more the equivalent petrol or diesel car. The price of a replacement battery is an unknown, no one will have to buy a new battery until the 10 yr warranty is over at the very earliest, but you can be sure it would be a lot cheaper than the resale value of the car.

They said the same thig about the Prius, battery would be more than the car and die after 2 yrs or something. The ex taxi '08 Prius had 680,000 kms when I bought it. The owner had put in a battery from the wreckers a few yrs earlier, at the massive cost of $200, that was still working fine up to around 12 mths ago when I took it off the road with 756,000 kms on the clock. I did buy a new battery for the '06 silver Prius, $2,500 a few mths before I took the taxi Prius off the road, in hind sight, I should've just swapped the batteries, but for such a massive cost o $2,500, I have a new battery that should last at least another 10 to 12 yrs ....

The silver Prius cost me $6,500 second hand as it is an iTech full bells and whistles model back in 2006. When I wrecked the battery in it by connecting the solar to the wrong battery pack (it had an extended range battery as well at that time) the insurance paid me out roughly $9,000 and I bought the car back for roughly $2000 ...... the same model in the car yards now https://www.onlycars.com.au/hatch/toyot ... d9f3a1c6a6

T1,
We've just clocked up 80,000km in the little Supercar (Suzuki Baleno Turbo 1.1l, bought new) and 39,000km (28,000 of which is ours) on the Isuzu MU-X (3.0l Turbo Diesel.)
Previous Honda Civic racked up 230,000km before we sold it — still purring nicely.
Both Supercar and Isuzu are still running sweetly, and serviced at the appropriate intervals.
As Jack Brabham's mechanic, Ron Tauranac said after two F1 races without tearing down the engine for a rebuild:
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
No car replacements in our forseeable future (barring accidents)… so no EVs.
Regards & God bless,
Ray

As long as you are happy fuel prices and electricity bills, stick with it, you are making someone happy ;)
