We had them things in certain areas at Kingston.
There was one white brick house between two dark or black ones. Only the white one had a problem.
Also turn off all outside lights. Seems to attract them at night.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
A customer was a very well known insect exterminator and was paid a large sum of money to research methods of killing them ..... after 18 mths, the only effective sure fire method was to tread on them, then they stink the place out. He tried various materials in an open bottom box, wet dry warm, cold, nothing would attract them away from a problem area ..... if you built on a problem area, be prepared to sweep all the floors every morning to collect them up, one house in a street would have a problem, but not the others for around 5 yrs, then they would all start to see a few bodies ..... then progressively more and more till they were at the stage of sweeping paths and garage floors ..... then inside the house ...
He was telling me, there are areas in major cities overseas that are complete no go areas, all the building were demolished and the place left baron .... the only sure fix was to dig deep, put all the soil through high heat treatment, lay Fortecon membrane with a big overlap, then put the heat treated soil back ...... it would just move the things to the neighbours place
The other methods that sort of work, dig citrus peel into the ground through the whole yard ..... they will progressively reduce in numbers around your place over a 2 to 5 yrs period ......
Even the ants won't touch them ......

Terry, there was an insecticide from years gone by called Dieldrin. It killed everything just about. Unfortunately it had some horrible residual qualities. It's pretty much banned everywhere now.
Google it and you'll see why. If my memory is even halfway correct it would rust the bottom out of a 5 gallon can too.

Who counts them? Hi my name is David and I am a pussy counter"
Like with the snakes being endangered, Who counts them?
I agree there are far too many pussy cats but who is to blame? yep humans, What is the progress of the cane toad or has everyone brushed that under the carpet?
Went to Birdwood to see my GP and once again stunned at the growth of the housing, so many beautiful acres of farming land swallowed up with boxed housing. Horrid on the eyes for sure. Had a great time in the op shop, all new stuff and some great winter stuff as well.
Brian has had his once a year mad zoomies and is now back on his chair all curled up and snoring happily. Oh I found a near new cat harness for him and that is presently soaking ready to hang out tomorrow. I got an email supposedly from Peter aka Petels but all it said was "Hi would like to ask you something" = wiped off quickly.Anyone here watch Tattoo Fixers? they are so clever covering up some really horrid tatts but some are funny. G is seeing AJ tomorrow then she is coming around and bringing some plants for the neighborhood garage sale, I hate the things and stay away.
BOB's again this Sunday but at some unholy time in the am. Off to shower now then bed after a big day out, Goodnight everyone x
Goodnight David x

Dot, sounds like you are having even more busy days than we are. Brian should like a new harness, he looks like a fashion conscious cat... not ! Hope the gardening was only light...

This morning I checked the motor registry mobs webpage again and what a relief, the truck is now officially registered for the next year. I had already started thinking about finding a rego place because it was worrying me, not now, huge relief.
The rebuilt plate is looking good and is up for sale tomorrow (along with all the other stuff). I am happy with it and may get a photo soon. Today was stall setup and the temps were up there in the high 30s We are both exhausted, but the job is done and as usual, it looks pretty good. We have an early start tomoz, so an almost early night will be had by all.
sweet dreams xxxx

The problem is, you only see them when they have come out to die, so anything you spray them with won't make much of a difference, they are going to die anyway ......supersparky wrote: ↑Fri Apr 11, 2025 8:35 pm Terry, there was an insecticide from years gone by called Dieldrin. Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Well, today I was able to render limited assistance to SWMBO with the gardening today.
Half an hour dragging hoses around keeping the roses alive and doing the daily dog-poo pickup was all I could manage before needing a rest (read: ‘nap’).
I did manage to return to the Great Outdoors and do more hose-dragging and tap-turning.
The chemo seems to be taking a lot of my energy these days.
So much so that I’m off to bed before midnight!
Goodnight everyone.

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
A beaut day here today actually got too humid to do to much outside work but we did manage to get some done until AJ turned up and it was then time to take a seat and have a cool drink. Brian had his personal chair around the circle and slept all through the afternoon.
AJ and G are planning a garage sale around Easter so I will out of sight, I hate the things. Hope your sales shot through the roof Deborah and that Shirley got some sleep also David got some zzzzz's as well, wish I could give yo some of mine. Watching the bikes a bit but it's the women's race and they don't get me like the BOB's do.Had my flu jab yesterday and no worries at all, not sore and didn't feel the thing either
Goodnight everyone x
Goodnight Peter and Sandra xx
P,S. Where and what are you 2 up these days??

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, after our visit to Adelaide, I can't imagine you getting humidity. I am with you on the garage sale thing, I'd rather just put things on the footpath for people to take what they want. Avoids any snooping in your domain and other risks. xxxx
Sales through the roof? More like the flamin floor. We literally had two sales all day. Election jitters and Trumpinators meddling are possible reasons. Also it was so hot in the basketball courts that people were heading home to their air conditioning. It was just as hot as yesterday, but with added people as well. Usually, this event, there are lots of people lining up at the door when we arrive half an hour early. Today, there were only five people waiting, so it was a crappy omen of things to come. Fingers crossed for a better day tomoz.
