IP addresses blocked

Post by BruceS »

This morning I blocked a series of IP addresses of computers that were flogging the server like some time ago. 187 when I looked!
Obviously if you have a similar IP address you may also be blocked.
Telling you to contact me is pointless since you won't be able to read this post.
So ..... if you know someone that recently stopped visiting the forum, then you might be able to help them! (if they are now blocked)
The IP's I blocked started with...
47.82.*.*
or
47.79.*.*

Once again thanks Bruce. You win the internet today. :D
As you know, I'm on this forum at some weird hours and I only usually see members I know or the Google bot having a squizz.
Cheers

David if you go to the link up above that says "WHO IS ONLINE" does it list more online? Can you see a link to see more? Is there a link to display guests?

Thanks Shirley.
I'm not sure if I'm able to see more because I'm an Admin but if you look above your name can you see something like this?

If you do, can you click on "display guests"?

Thankyou David for that info.
Yes, that page refreshes every so many seconds which reflects anyone joining or leaving.
I figured I may be able to see more than others.
This is what I can see.

So as you can see the one hitting the site now are "Meta" which is "Facebook"....
It's not drastic but i'll block the 57.141.2.* block & watch results.

Bruce, I've been back in and checked again. Currently 7 guests online. I can't expand the list detail any further than what I posted overnight. Understandably admins get to see a lot more of the background goings on.

An Attack from Alibaba downed our electric vehicle forum, might be an A I attack looking to data harvest or something, I can't see any advantage for any of them to attempt a denial of service attack, so data harvesting is the next most likely
