Nightly Goodnight Everyone

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Brian to the vet this arvo for a check up for his sneezing (more than normal) and to have his ears cleaned. I had noticed a slight crackling of his breathing of late, plus his usual worming. Result antibiotics and something else I have forgotten the name  but all in all he is very healthy for 11yrs and 1 month and 5.1kg. Got home and the painter arrived for the final decision on colour and he will start friday week. Looking forward to seeing the brightened up place. Sounds like Dave is having a good time. Tomorrow I have decided more yard (G's shed) needs attention  I still have not found that container but I reckon G has snaffled it but he is yet to find the cake he hid before I hid it. That's our excitement around here, bet that makes you jealous. Off to bed now the fire has died down. Take care people. Goodnight everyone x :D Goodnight Birthday boy aka Tanks x :D

Hope Brian gets better asap Dot. I like the idea of a contract for the painter, like you, I am fed up with tradies who quote one thing and then demand more or only do half the job. So good on you xxxx

Our day started off with crappy rainy, freezing weather. We made it up the highway and crossed Hexham bridge, when the van started to make a noise. Pulled off and the passengers side wheel has blown off. No idea why or how. Nobody injured and the wheel flew off into marsh lands, that had recently been flooded and had grass over my head. Wheel is nowhere to be found. I rang the NRMA whose response was "the axle is touching the road so it is now considered and accident and we can't help" (more like won't help) She suggested I ring the police or our insurance company. I decided to call APIA and see what they could do for us. The had a tilt tray truck at the caravan in half an hour and arranged for it to be towed to a place called caravan fix in Cardiff (close-ish to home) and now the wait for the assessor. Our weekend is gone now. Caravan park was great. They have put our deposit into a bank account for us to use next time in one of their North Coast parks.

We had similar happen about ten years ago, and the NRMA towed the van, had it repaired and put us up in a motel for the night. So go figure, what exactly will they pay for these days. When I am in a calmer mood, I will ring them and ask what does our sh** expensive policy cover.

So we are back in the lair and have no way to get out to our club event. Just hope that the repairs can be done as quickly as possible.

Deborah, I am oh so sorry to see those pics. The NRMA are an absolutely useless bunch of pricks. They will find a reason not to assist you , and not give a stuff. We were run off the road down on the Ballina Breakwater years back and they had no desire to assist, just upscale it and absolve themselves of any responsibility. On another forum that I use I would call the a bunch of( a word that starts with C and ends with ZZ ) but I choose not to use it here
I hope you can get a reasonable resolution to this predicamet.
Cheers

I can answer that one for you Deborah, it covers anything they can't weasel their way out of, their insurance is the same.

Hope it's all fixed to your satisfaction. Ask if the wheel studs had sheered off, if so, get the ones on the other side replaced as well. Once the wheel escapes the vehicle, it makes a run for it and hides, rarely to be ever seen again

When I was about 19yo my car ceased to run so, having NRMA membership, I managed to call them from a house nearby. Despite stating that they would be there shortly they failed to show after an hour so I set about solving the problem myself.

Following this event, I cancelled my membership and haven't considered using them again.

Keep in mind what NRMA stands for ..... No Real Mechanics Available ..... When I had the workshop, road service blokes would bring a car into me to fix, and then expect a kick back ..... the problem with that was, we were booked out 3 to 6 weeks in advance .... they would get real shittey when I said I couldn't do the job for at least a couple of days and it would have to be left at the workshop to squeeze in where possible .... I was already working till midnight and often doing an all nighter to cover the additional work that would turn up requiring attention ....... so I certainly didn't need to be paying kickbacks to get enough work .....

Dot are you watching something on TV from the warm bed or just tired after all the extra gardening that you seem to be doing? Stay warm mate, it's bloomin freezing here. xxxx

Thanks for all of the kind thoughts. Today was just more of the same. I spent almost 2 hours on phone holding to try to speak to someone at the insurance company. I finally gave up and rang the repairers. Their attitude left me very upset. They haven't even bothered to send in the assessments for the process to get a start on. Then I was told in no uncertain terms that they have a lot of vans already in their yard from people who have been booked in for a while. Our van will take it's place in the queue and not to expect the van back for several weeks. Last time this happened in Singleton and we were helped so much. Yep country town where people care about others. They had the van in pieces and all back to being fixed in a matter of about four hours. So I don't think that I am being unkind when I say that waiting for several weeks to get our van worked on and waiting for what I think can be no more than half a days work is criminal.

A little later, the insurance company phoned to ask about our health and to see if they could help in any way. I burst into tears and told her about the repairer. She offered to move the van to another repairers, but how can we be sure that anyone else in this area would be any more considerate?

Not a lot got done here today.

Deb,
There are 3 caravan repair places in Cardiff, which one is your van at?
