Thought about it Dot, but the bus is sold now and looking for a much smaller one than 12m as the music touring has come to a stop, only go and play with others at their gigs and even that has diminished. I'm looking for a smaller bus, not into those supposed motorhomes as they always seem to have problems and in my opinion, very weakly built. Have seen many in pieces during trips, just like caravans built out of tin foil. It's been rare to see converted buses destroyed along the roads, then again those driving big converted buses are normally people with experience driving big rigs.

Most motorhome and caravan drivers have zero experience in big rigs to begin with and tend to make mistakes on loading and driving techniques, so they have accidents before they understand what they’re doing sadly and how their vehicle behaves in different conditions and road surfaces.

We progressed from sleeping in the back of a VW Type 3 (station wagon — pre-children) to a VW Kombi (middle seat removed, kids sleeping on the engine cover) then a ‘proper’ motorhome: Mazda T3500 4t truck converted by Jayco (prototype #6 of 6 — project abandoned) then a SWB 4cyl diesel Toyota Coaster (professionally converted) before tackling a MR-class Winnie Explorer (21ft, 8.2t).
Along the way we attended an RACV course on towing (which included load distribution) and another on 4WD.
So we learned in stages how to drive a heavy vehicle.
Along the way we have encountered innumerable people who think that because they hold a car licence, they know how to tow a caravan weighing as much as their car.
Quite a few had experienced proof that they didn’t.

The rule that you couldn't tow a trailer more than 2/3rds the weight of the tow vehicle, should never have been abandoned, but rather, an uprating in licence requirements and the heavy vehicle rules should have applied to all heavy vehicles, with the vehicle classification determined by GCM, not tare weight .....

Do ya reckon, that half of these arguments and discussions would be totally unnecessary if the clowns driving the big arsed 4 wheeled Freddy trucks would slow down just a bit.
I lost count years ago of the cars, RV's, whatever, hauling a huge caravan have roared past me on the highway. I thought that the speed limit was 100kmh if you were towing anything that put you over 4.5t aggregate.
