Terry I'm not sure what you mean by "rocking" but if you mean both rockers are slack then that IS the compression stroke. (valves closed)
Therefore the opposite companion would be on exhaust stroke?
I can't see how much room you have there Terry but I have a couple of little 'keyhole' saws that have a thin pointed blade but fairly big teeth pointed back to your hand. Check out the green shed etc?

Another idea..

Can you thread a bike gear cable down one side and up the other.

Then pull both ends upwards?

Rocking is the 2nd TDC when the exhaust closes and the intake opens, there is a period when both valves are partially open, this is the point of "rocking" and means to opposite cyl in the firing order, in this case cyl 6, is at compression TDC, the plug is already sparking and the fuel mix is exploding .......

If you can picture the piece of the circle between two flats on a 5/8" hex head thin walled socket..... that is the area I'm working in, but the length from the tip of the middle finger to the end of your palm, in side a tube that the thin walled 5/8" plug socket just fits in, somewhere around the 5:30 mark on this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md_HQcZZEpM you can see the tap inside the guide tool, there are two circlip grooves on the tool, the lower groove (not the one he puts the circlip on) is how far inside the plug tube in the head, the piece is stuck ......

Thank Jon, I actually tried that with mig welding wire, I couldn't get it to come back up far enough to get hold of it ..... mostly because I can't hold the torch, mirror, wire and long nose pliers, all in two hands at arms length, while squatted near on the floor so I can see in the mirror ...... I'll give that idea another go when the bore scope type camera that I can plug into the phone turns up or the other one that is long enough to plug into the 'puter so I can get a bigger picture of what's going on ....

To get an idea of the position, one of the plug thread repair videos shows doing the rear cyl on their passenger side, add another cyl and put that in the transmission tunnel and having to work from in front of the radiator .... not quite that tight for room above the engine, but the spark plug socket and mid length extension measures the tip of the middle finger back to the wrist/end of the palm ..... the socket has to enter the plug recess in the head to get it under the top of the engine cover so I can slide the socket over the plug .... when it actually goes down over the plug, just the open end of the 1/2" drive is showing in the top of the plug tube, enough to line up the next extension to get enough clearance for the ratchet ..... you can see the position of the injectors and fuel rail over the plug hole in the video

Bike gear wire is like 1mm stainless multstrand.

Has a lot more spring in it.

Push it down with a screw action, Twist and use a pick to guide it up. Or can you thread some fishing line first to pull the wire through?

By chance can you try a push bike spoke and see if by chance the thread may connect. Then if you can get just a start then pull it out. Any bike shop will possible give you an old spoke. Plus also the wire is very stiff so may be even use other end for a hook.

Camera arrived, less than 30 mins of colourful language ...... and it's out :D Finally managed to get the hook thing that comes with the camera, the collar thing that holds in place, broke naturally, but a combination of the collar, Blu Tak, the phone and simply got the hook under the thing, and out it came.

I must have shifted it when trying with the thermo couple wire and didn't realise .... just couldn't see well enough down the hole, but using the camera, tried all the other methods first, then mastered the hook and keeping it facing the right way, and out it came yeah .... back to the boring stuff now, like taking the spark plug out, checking the compression .... but I can look in the no.1 cyl and see if the bore is damaged or a bent valve or just what is causing the low compression in that cyl .....

Has that problematic cylinder been low the whole time you have owned the Winnie, or is it a new problem?
Anyway, you've removed the problem, so now you can fix it again.
Just make sure those little gizmo's are screwed down tight. Or do the new plugs have solid ends now?
