Still pretty young but Ozzie O has left the building He sure was different.

He must have known something not very good was coming. I saw him on TV a cuppla weeks ago saying that the recent concert that Black Sabbath had done was going to be the last one ever.

OK. Maybe he was a mixed up attention seeking junior adult. He certainly was more than a bit out there. Good on him for living his life and having fun. Shaaarrrrrronnnn!!!!

Apparently it was supposed to be a prop, rubber bat or something, but the road crew had a very similar life style to Ozzie, so for a joke, they substituted if for a real bat, thinking Ozzie would realise at the last moment and freak out making a really funny on stage stunt ...... but Ozzie didn't pick it up until he actually bit the head off, then, being the comic entertainer he was, carried on like it was always planned that way .... the story goes that the road crew were throwing up back stage when the saw what happened go completely wrong ......

He was born in 48, considering the lifestyle he led, drugs, alcohol and a tad on the wild side, doesn't seem to mean a reduced life span ..... Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are another example .....

Was a big black sabbath fan back in the day, have all their albums and really enjoyed the music. As for Ozzie, he was no different to most other muso's from that era, take it to the limit and hope for the best. Some got through some didn't, but the adrenalin rush playing in front of appreciative audiences was something you just couldn't let go, just like an addiction the more you got, the more you wanted and the adulation was a real experience, no matter how high up the ladder you were musically. We never had any real ambitions to make it big, enjoyed the receptions we got and the never ending re-bookings that kept us on the road.
Ozzie hit the right note at the right time and enjoyed a great musical life, unlike many, he had the opportunity to say goodbye in the way that satisfied him the most, on stage belting it out. RIP a great muso.

They only became Black Sabbath after someone mentioned devil type music was popular, Black Sabbath was the name of a movie doing the rounds at the time ..... anyone know the previous names? No Google searching ....... The first name just doesn't seem to fit how the band turned out .....
