I liked what was written across the jumper on the cloth doll of Shirley Temple "Welcome to the Rolling Stones" That sort of puts the time line together .....

It's a very unique album cover with lots in it, most don't look deeply into the content and what it represents.
So Ozzie died of a heart attack, but had parkinsons, he got to do his thing one last time and seemed to really enjoy it, which is a nice way to sign off.

NP,
To each his own… fortunately.
For all the reasons you posited, I no longer listen to current pop music.
I prefer the classical composers — even if they wrote their masterpieces while p!ssed as a newt.
My CD stereo has never been worked so hard!

Current pop music ..... the Beatles split up in 1970, actually John Lennon announced he was leaving the band in 1969, so they didn't record anything new from then ..... that was 56 yrs ago Ray

Re: Ozzie O is dead
Ray, haven't listened to the beatles or any music from the 1960-1980's for many decades, the music I listen to today is new and music I've never heard before as I don't live in the past, even though have thousands of albums of every genre you can think of, including most classical works. However have played music from the era constantly over the years because people like it and that was my job, the difference is we innovated and made them our own, not covers like the way classical music is played today, repetitive lacking in feel, innovation and boring you to death.
As for classical, the most inspiring for me was Wagner and Stravinsky, great composers, but that was hundreds of years ago not 2025 and the past is gone, never to return thankfully.

Re: Ozzie O is dead
There's quite a difference between popular versions of classical music and orchestra covers, some of the modern versions have been great, but orchestras playing the works note for note, is just a cover with nothing innovative, just merry go round music, in my opinion. Modern chamber music is normally very interesting, especially if you have musicians who can and do improvise, sadly there,s very few classically trained musicians who are capable of innovation and spontaneity in their music. All they can do is read notes and repeat them, put them in a modern band they are lost and have experienced that reality many times over the years.
Have a friend who is one of the top violin makers on the planet and yet he failed every time he tried to play with us, just couldn't get the feel or rhythm. But watching him make instruments was a unique experience, especially as he was also a blacksmith and jeweller and made some beautiful things.
As music is the language of the soul, it matters not what you like, but that you get enjoyment out of the music you listen to or play. Personally I don't like rap or doof doof music, but understand others do, so that's what counts and the same with classical. When travelling, listen to JJJ, or cd's I've recorded of music haven't heard before, some of it's surprisingy good and refreshing.
On my trip the Hobart yesterday, listened to "Folk bitch trio", a 3 piece female trio and they had lovely harmonies and some good songs. Don't think will put them on my top list though, got a bit boring after a few songs. Country rock, blues rock and contemporary jazz are my favourites to listen to when travelling.
