I guess if you listen to & believe everything the media say & write then ......
All you USA & Trump haters will turn over in your graves if/when WW3 happens & Trump says "stuff you lot".
At my age I could care less but brain washing is, well, brain washing in anyone's language.
Unfortunately we will never really know the truth.
I presume those in USA are getting similar about our excuse for a PM?

Re: Trump (again!)
It's about 80/20 on the US forums I'm on as far as Trump haters (80%) to rusted on MAGA supporters (20%) ..... so they aren't real happy either.
As expected, a lot of half completed projects and collected parts ready to start a conversion, now abandoned and all the stuff is at least half price, just to find a sale ....
As far as Trump say "Stuff you lot" I very much doubt we will see the submarines we paid big $$ for, but then, the US needs our location for servicing their nuclear subs and communication arrays, as well as friendly ports ..... so I doubt we will get the cold shoulder treatment ......
I think the biggest problem will be getting Trump and his supporters to finance WW3, the US has burned all its bridges when it comes to allies to support them, no one wants to buy their debt anymore, so where will the money come from ......

Re: Trump (again!)
As Bruce has mentioned in a post a couple above this. Unfortunately we will never know the truth.
There are some members of this forum that think the Donald is a lying cheating PoS . And the are others that think that President Donald Trump has been totally misrepresented by all and sundry.
My take is somewhere in the middle of all that. Others think otherwise, both to the negative and positive.
I, for one, hope that the world is never again forced to pick and choose its allies. Far too many good people died fighting for what they considered to be a just cause, the last time the world did that. Lest we forget.

Ray, I will say 'Lest we forget', anytime that I choose, when used in regard to the men and women that put on a uniform and fought for our country. Maybe the old farts in upper level RSL need to kick themselves up their butt.Greynomad wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 12:53 amDAVE!!!

Our local Junior NRL team has that saying on the bottom of their team jumper. The RSL sub-branch is based in the clubrooms.

Re: Trump (again!)
When deciding how I see trump, I go by what my yank friends are saying and what comes on line from yanks. It's irrelevant what we think until we are really effected. Most commenting yanks and videos are really pissed off with trump and the silence of the republicans and democrats.
One thing which to me is relevant and may add light to why trump is performing as he is, that's he has the backing of the USA supreme court. They made a decision not that long ago which said that the president is not accountable for decisions he makes whilst in power. So trump thinks he has a free hand to do what he likes and is taking over as much as he can so that he can manipulate their constitution and take full control.
On the other hand, supreme court judges and presidents can be impeached and then face criminal proceedings in congress, as well as the court systems. There are precedents for this occurring and as the democrats are being very quiet, they could be waiting for the mid term elections and allowing trump and republicans to dig their own politician graves. If democrats gain control of both houses, trump is in for a big shock and congress may take on the supreme court, because the relevant precedent fits the situation like a glove, which is pushing their own political agenda's when they are supposed to by unbiased and free from political influence and bias. The bar to implement is very low and maybe republicans and trump don't realise that they may be digging their own political graves fast.
Then of course, who knows what will happen at the mid term elections, considering the majority seem to be rusted on to the political parties and no matter what won't change their votes. Something we see in Aus, with all parties unable to develop policies which would solve many of our problems fast, but they won't, just like the USA, they prefer to stick to their guns literally, irrelevant to the verified consequences we are all seeing.
Just look at Tas, the labor party is so blind they refused to negotiate with anyone and expected independents and the greens to back them, but it didn't happen and the state is back to square one, run by a bunch of idiots who've proved they are useless. But labor is just as stupid and we will probably have another election soon and the result may turn out that independents and the greens will have more votes than libs and labor combined. Then the question will be, can the greens negotiate with the independents to get stable government, doubt that will happen as the greens are just as stupid as the others and Tas would have to elect enough independents to govern in their own right.

Re: Trump (again!)
I think both parties in the USA realise the capitalist method is not working, so everyone with money is investing in gold outside of America. Once the USD$ starts to collapse, the BRICS will become the dominant money for trading between countries and the value of the USD will reduce their national debt to something they might be able to handle.
Within the US, as long as they buy locally produced, they won't notice the drop in value, but if they want something from outside the US, like oil or electricity from Canada, they will be in a world of pain ... except for those that bought off shore gold.
The rest of the world ..... unlike when the world economy was tied to the USD, if BRICS actually works, they will get by with a slight dip ....... unless they can sell to the US, then everything they are selling will be worth gold, literally ..... who in their right mind would accept the USD as payment?
The rest of the world already sees the USD as no longer a safe place to hold their money, so those who haven't been able to sell the US bonds, will virtually have to write that debt off, but who would be silly enough to buy US debt ..... the USD might end up like the Italian Lira .... virtually worthless unless you need something to start the fire with ....

Re: Trump (again!)
Ray, the result of that stoush was the RSL came on board and stated that the words come from a poem written a century ago and nobody can copyright the phrase. The RSL club who demanded their members stop wearing the jumpers was way out of line and not the whole RSL mob. Head office of the RSL claimed they were fine with the clothing and supported the wearing of the articles. Hope this helps. xxGreynomad wrote: ↑Thu Aug 21, 2025 12:53 amDAVE!!!
