Cheers
No, eating snake was in a cultural environment at the time and when pretty young, haven't eaten meat for more than 5 decades.

Hmm Dot, so you've discovered my high education standard and shall say no more, agree with Robert

Yesterday I did another lamb shanks dinner, this time using black beans.

Two rear leg shanks
Two litre of home made chicken stock
400g black beans soaked for 24 hrs
One large onion
Two medium carrots
Two small green capsicum
Two sticks celery
Teaspoon salt
Teaspoon dried Thyme
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika.
1/2 teaspoon ancho chillie powder

Usual lamb shanks in flour salt and pepper and seared with beef fat
Throw it all into the slow cooker until shanks are cooked and thicken if required with the left over flower.

Steamed spuds on the side

RnB,
You forgot the essential ingredient: WINE! 🍷
Either in the pot or by the glass… doesn’t matter.
😉😁👍

Ray not really, I have not had a drink for 8 months now and did not want to open a bottle for a glass to use. Off because of all my medical problems and will reconsider after I see my heart lady at the end of the month.

I love my red wine and did not want to tempt fate. Cheers Robert

My commiserations. 😥
I have no such qualms, despite my (current) problem.

I've never thought about using rear leg shank meat for a slow cooked meal, but it makes perfect sense, you don't actually want the bone, you want the meat, and there is a lot more on the hind legs than the front legs .... I wonder how Kangaroo hind leg shank meat would cook up ...... I'll have to be careful just where I hit the next one that tries to take on the Winnie bull bar, then I can collect some fresh cuts to try ;)
Cleaned up one on the left corner of the bull bar, not sure if he was a fresh kill and I was the next one passing, but I wasn't quick enough to see it and swing away, ended up with roo blood from one end of the Winnie to the other, even the trailer got to share some of it
