Bushfires near by

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Bushfires near by

Post by Dot »

3 weeks out from winter and we have an out of control bushfire in the Adelaide hills. We have a smoke covered sky and the only thing we can hope for it the ? expected rains tomorrow. Q/ with this spike in temps why do the "powers that be" insist on doing burn offs?? within in accessible areas and no fire fighting choppers around? Also have the daily gully winds to contend with. A couple of houses have been lost.

Is there any danger in your area Dot? The wind has been coming from all directions up here at the moment. I think the powers that be usually do the burn-offs now while it is still dry enough to burn, before the winter rains start. Maybe they should look at the weather forecasts first.

We are not in the line of fire but as the crow flies about 30ks. They were just saying on the local TV station that the fires should never have been lit considering the very unusual high temperatures. I guess someone's goolies will get a good kicking when the fires are out.

Dot, my understanding was that it was a private person doing a little burn of rubbish that got away on him with a wind gust.
It's actually a good time to do a fuel reduction burn ......... but not the house too!!!

Now you stop worrying Dot.

As long as we're here you may consider yourself well & truly protected. Image

Remember... I now have a reputation which I can, apparently, turn on at a moments notice. Image

I'll simply face my nether regions towards the on coming fireball - & let go with a single - but, ominously, large - voluminous blast......... Image Image Image

My work here will then be done.....

But wouldn't the gas cloud feed the fireball Chuckie? I don't think that is the type of "wind break" they had in mind ;)
